  1. Yes indeed I thank you kindly Great version of the Diane Lewis on Wand hit Which is also a fab tune imo
  2. I like them both , I can’t really separate them , I like the Janice sort of fragile vocal and later 60s feel to production but always loved Andrea Henry since I first heard it any ideas who Janice is?
  3. Was Andrea Henrys version produced in Detroit ? Herman Griffin was Detroit based wasn’t he
  4. I don’t think I’ll be bothering with it again Like the ray pollard , hammer price was showing 550 but add the buyers tax and it’s circa 700 The 30 percent buyers tax on top off the hammer price takes the proverbial in my view There were some fantastic records there
  5. So which one was discovered first and when, and by who? Where was it first played? So obviously the MGM release was played a lot and seems the more common version - I first heard it in the 80s probably played by Mark Bicknell at keel or somewhere the MGM version was always about 350 quid and the roulette version was sort of 200 quid even if it was more interesting and underplayed But as times roll on - Is the Janice version actually much rarer? I still see Andrea Henry MGM 45 popping up when DJs sell up but I never see the Janice on roulette on lists anymore. I feel the Janice 45 is lovely with the slightly funkier guitar and the obvious later 60s laid back vibe, and added crossover feel You never see it on lists anymore do you? Both great versions of the same tune - just interested in everyone's opinion regarding which one is rarer? I imagine the Andrea Henry version on MGM gained price and demand as it was popular on the northern soul scene and the Janice version was overlooked but is in fact the much rarer 45 Just a conversation about 2 lovely soulful versions of a really great record. I still cant separate them.
  6. Did anyone win anything or bid on the uk collection via omega auction last Wednesday? Must admit I bid on many things and thought I had placed really good high bids in and expected a couple of wins. Good news is I still have a wife and Christmas is intact Really keen prices - remember you pay 30 percent buyers fee with this auction so you have to factor that in when you bid. 2 examples - So Ray Pollards uk issue its a sad thing on issue went for 550 so plus fees would end up at over 700 pounds - that sold Jerry Jackson - its rough out there uk pye demo sold for around 300 - so with buyers fees and postage over 400 quid - that sold One one hand I was disappointed that I did not snag anything, but on the other really pleased and surprised that an auction not specifically directed at soul collector's achieves such great prices and interest. The collecting scene is proving really healthy - I know this as I have just been outbid on everything I bid on Must say it was an outstanding uk collection - including 60s soul, 60s ska, 60s mod, 60s psych Anyone else have a go on these omega auctions?
  7. I bought a uk fontana Sandy Wynns - arrived today I have just snagged the second cheapest uk fontana ever listed going by discogs It is fab condition - I could not be more happy Got a couple of other uk bits on way that I am really looking forward to adding into the uk section Just would like to say big thank you to John To be honest I always pick through his site listening to stuff and mentally making notes etc, picking out what I want and buying the odd thing anyway. So I sort of know what is on there that I would like, so when he does the half price and I think this is the third time he has I'm not scrolling through the most expensive tunes and going down the tree from the top trying to find a bargain as I already know what he has which I want anyway. So really happy with the few great bits I have snagged off him this week As Willie Tee said - Thank you John
  8. First heard it at Bradford Queens Hall in late 80s Probably Pat Brady Class record, never overplayed Well worth 300 quid
  9. Thanks for that 👍👍👍 Really good, just ordered one
  10. Yes, I saw the Prisoners a very long time ago , such a great influence as a teen ager for me, along with making time and manual scan from USA , they were my top 3 1980s Still have my Italian sx lambretta Still collect records Still buy clothes always with a certain taste I haven’t been to a soul doo or a mod doo for many years I’m very into just what I’m into Hermit old Mod 😂
  11. Yes Exactly the same cloth Thanks for sharing It’s so cool to see and know that there are people with the same mindset As for mod revival, of course !!! That is where I came from Last one from that area I bought was Eddie pillers fairly recent release on 7 inch of don’t burst my bubble by the prisoners , which sold out immediately What a tune
  12. I got a great copy of Darrow Fletcher the pain gets a little deeper on London last year This record means so much to me To have a uk copy - I so love it these little things make my day
  13. Thanks for your replies yes - the 45s i am appreciating are the 60s classics Things like lee dorsey and solomon burke I was just interested in where it ended up for collectors I was dancing on the northern scene for years but I must admit Billys bag and Harlem shuffle are still the reason
  14. I do collect many different things - love 60s boogaloo - rnb - Jamaican 60s - Mod Jazz all within my context of mod influenced things I suppose I still buy the odd expensive thing - just finding it really interesting collecting lots of little things - lots of classics
  15. Sort of gone full circle for me last few years I have been collecting the uk Atlantic label for example - so many great classic soul / mod records From a record collecting point of view
  16. So been somewhere I think the bit I am loving right now is the club classics I'm loving the 60s club classic's again very odd, loving things like Jackie lee the the duck rather than George pep I am going to collect the records that mean something to Thoughts?
  17. So in my opinion = this 45 is really rare on a uk capitol yes have been told this was played by dave evison back in the day at some point but forgotten about in general Its a great 45 in my opinion - criminally ignored
  18. Thanks randy that mod top 100 was and still is instrumental
  19. Overlooked in so many ways I bet there will be no copy's on us capitol available after this conversation why? cause its a proper great record that should be played that everyone forgot about
  20. and it has never reached its potential cause its good tune
  21. yes but nobody realised how rare it is on uk
  22. Did anyone play this cracker over the years ? Really good northern so overlooked in so many ways thanks Randy
  23. I am an avid 60s mod / soul record collector I love all aspects of collecting and especially great uk 60s releases - I am from the mod scene so these 60s uk releases are really important to me regarding our history. I was looking over randy cousins mod top 100 recently and was picking over things I had never owned on uk originals It struck me that the Magnificent Men - All your loving's gone to my head is really really rare on uk capital I can not see more than 7 uk capitol copy's both issues and demos have ever gone through e bay or discogs combined over the last 25 years The fact that it is a lovely underplayed northern soul dancer and peace of mind is a great soulful beat ballad that randy cousins advised us was a great record makes this really interesting for me. In my opinion this record is seriously rare on a uk capitol - and just a perfect double sider with a great northern dancer And its probably not been played on the northern scene much since Randy first came across it wherever he first heard it in the 60s Your thoughts?

I love her voice - just really great Jamaican Soul The fact that there is not really a Jamaican soul scene if you will, and the amount of people who are enthusiastic enough to post comments on u tube is really great to see. But this is just one example - there are hundreds of thousands of people appreciating things and making comments. My point is in the future when we are all long gone - there will be still be people discovering this great music via the internet. The legacy and history of the northern soul scene will always be there for people to watch - the old documentaries, discovering and listening to old music. Its already there online. I guess I'm just happy it is there - and there are clearly millions of people still finding the music and appreciating it.
