  1. From memory Bridget did spend some time in Crewe as it was with Martin Maylor that I met her. Although this may have been that she stayed there occasionally. A couple of other names from Crewe Ady and Bob. I think Ady became a Royal Guard. Mark
  2. Mark I REMEMBER MICK HOW IS HE MATE? BAZ A
  3. "Heavy metal blues" backing track resembles - Marvin Gaye "I heard it through the grapevine" Not sure with the other one.
  4. Do you know what happened to either Carol or Bridget. I know Bridget had I believe a daughter a few years later and I went up to the christening but have lost contact since. Mark
  5. Yes Carol and Bridget Kelly (West Kirby) Mark
  6. It all got a bit confusing as you were hear different dee-jays playing the same track at a venue but with a different cover up name. I did after many years get a copy of "Nightime Shadows" TSOB (I put TSOP earlier - mad moment) on 45. For years I didn't know what it was and then Martin Maylor reckoned that Crumb from Stoke had bought it from Richard who had got it off Sam towards the end of Wigan. After a crazy weekend we travelled miles to see Crumb and I was willing to offer a tidy sum for what was one of my top wants. Walked in spoke to Crumb, who said "haven't got a clue what you are talking about and never heard of the record. The things you do to get that elusive track! Mark
  7. You could be right as there was a couple that had already uncovered by this time and that was one of them that I was told at the time was c/up as Johnny Hampton. Great record and pressed up around this time so everyone started to have one in their collection. Mark

  9. Baz I had a few off Mick Holdsworth via Chris Plant late Wigan, Mr Soul, Greater Experience, Royal Esquires, Ramona Collins etc. There were some great ones around, although you do also see some and you think hmm! Mark
  10. Neil A couple of years back I was in e.mail contact with Geoff through the Renaissance site. It was great to catch up and I have promised him that if Atlas gets in contact then Geoff whats to meet up with him - Come in Atlas your time is up? Mark
  11. Harpo Respect to you and the good times I have had at Nighters etc when you have been there. Infact, when I manage to pop up at the occasional venue in what ever part of the country - I always know that Harpo will be there. But how do you always remember when and where you last saw me, sometimes years later? Recently have been listening to the live tapes of the Casino on a Saturday night and was just wowed by the great things that were being played that so many people now don't realise how many top nighter spins were being played for the first time in those few years by Richard, Garry, Pat etc. Also thoroughly enjoyed both Dave Thorley and Chris Plant's guest spots and both deserved to dee-jay alongside the elite crew at the Casino. It was quite strange that a lot of the Gloucester crowd would go to Yate but I was always drawn to the Casino and went to Yate only a few times. Anyway keep in touch and talk soon. Mark
  12. Sandi Firstly great to hear from you and thanks for your kind comments. I used to love the Saturday nights and then down to Birmingham Locarno. Thank you also for listing some more of the Saturday night soulies that like you remember in such a positive way. All the best Mark
  13. Hi All Finally found a load of photographs of Shotts during the late 80's and have just uploaded them - see the picture gallery. Mark
  14. Joan Have attached a copy of the advert for the 5th Anniversary Final All-Nighter. Mark

  16. Just found a write-up I did for Allanton allnighter that was featured in Echoes with Guy as the guest. Allanton_write_up_1988.bmp Have got copies of several flyers/ adverts and will also upload the advert with Mark George as guest. Great nights and happy reading. Mark
  17. Will do, am currently putting them on to cd and will upload some in the coming weeks. Thanks Mark
  18. Toad we most certainly did, how could I forget you. I have just done a cd for Nogger dee-jaying at The Locarno. As Borat would say - "Happy times"! Great to hear from you. Mark
  19. Joan Yes it is and will e.mail you in the next few minutes. Mark
  20. Definitely have wonderful memories of the Mexborough nighters. As with quite a few nighters recorded the night on 18th June 1988, with the dee-jay line-up of Pat Brady, Butch, Guy Hennigan, Rob Marriott, Kitch and then finish with Guy. I agree with an earlier comment - Rob, the scene just ain't the same without you! I will upload this at some point. Mark (Gloucester)
  21. Wonderful memories of Shotts. Went up there quite a few times with Mark George, Pablo, Simon, Dave Alcock, Edwin etc Both Mark and Pablo did guest spots and the crowd were just magic. Anyone know what happened to Jo (i think Bluett) who moved up to Scotland. I always used to borrow Jo's camera and take loads of photographs - Jo have you still got them? Jock you are and always will be a gentleman and a scholar. Adey Hall - Yes after many years of searching did eventually get a copy of the Whispers - "It only hurts for a little while". Mark (Gloucester)
  22. Thanks to Mark Freeman for encouraging me to dig out my Casino tapes and re-living my wonderful memories of the latter years of the Casino. Although I use to go to the Oldies nighters and occasionally go in M's, it was the Saturday nights , main dance floor that always did it for me - oh if we could turn back time? Russ, Richard, Soul Sam, Gary Rushbrooke, Pat Brady, Keith Minshull, Brian Rae and Dave Evison etc. - Respect to you all for such wonderful memories! On some nights there was only a few hundred people in so am hoping that this is a great opportunity to re-live a moment in time. A few examples are: Neil Allen, Chris Plant, Tim Ashibende, Dave Thorley, Atlas, Geoff Oakes, Dave Shaw, Waggsy, Trusser, Harpo, The twins, Rob Marriott, Vernon, Martin Maylor, Blondie, Ricky Brown, Pete French, Fletch, Tracey, Pip and the rest of the Stroud contingent. The Gloucester crowd and so many more from Worcester, Redditch, Crewe, Manchester, Scotland etc. Also the people that I didn't meet at the Casino but then met afterwards and found out they were also there, Guy, Keb, Butch, Gilly etc. Also to the wonderful soulies that we no longer see around Dave Alcock, Pete Lawson, Tommo, Mudd and others R.I.P. Anyway if you were there between 1979-1981 please leave a comment. Mark (Gloucester) - Don't look at the picture as I looked quite different then, like more hair, and definitely less weight
  23. Wonderful 45 and still occasionally put it on the decks. Once tried to dance to it at a Casino oldies night surrounded by soulies in 40" spencers. I can assure you I only tried it once. Mark
  24. Mark Oliver posted a post in a topic in All About the SOUL
How very sad. The sound of Mike Terry and his baritone saxophone appear on so many of the Northern classics and for many was the sound of the ultimate Soul 45 and will continue to be heard, danced to and appreciated for many, many years to come. Mark
