  1. THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL 46 on Saturday 16th July is to be a special fundraiser for one of our own. Being a part of our special group of friends, the Soul Family, is a privilege, and when one of us needs help, it's always on hand. The son of Soul Train Soul Nights regulars, Deb and Curly, has been diagnosed with the word no-one wants to hear. He's undergone initial treatment and awaits test results at the end of this week. Daz is only 38. He's a self-employed tradesman who is no longer able to work. Daz and his wife have 4 young children to care and provide for. Furthermore;- I was in school with Daz's mum aged 5 - 16; DJ Terry Perkins is Daz's father-in-law; DJ Steve Tash used to manage Daz's football team; DJ Daryl Jones' son used to play in the same team as Daz; DJ Rob Beard used to be Daz's barman in the Greyhound! Do you think we're going to help? You can bet your last pound we are! After paying for the room, all door money will be donated to Daz and his young family. There will also be a raffle on the night so prize donations will be very much appreciated. Let's do this! Full details on flyer

  4. All systems go for SOUL TRAIN SOUL NIGHTS 3rd THIS IS NORTHERN SOUL All Dayer at the Brymbo Sports & Social Club, near Wrexham on Saturday 30th April. Details on flyer but in no particular order here's a quick intro to our guest DJ's. Phil Goodwin aka Ping, who together with wife Ingrid was responsible for putting on the last Prestatyn Weekender will once again be opening proceedings double decking with Mark Alan Jones aka Mark the Mod. Mark is a stalwart in the Northern Room at the annual Robin Hood Scooter Weekenders, played at the last Prestatyn and recently played at the Chester 'March of the Mods' event. Wrexhams Mark Davies has been making a name for himself with his Facebook sessions on the excellent Northern Soul Music KTF site and played the Barnsley All Dayer earlier this year. Barbara Biddulph also DJ'd at Barnsley. She is a regular at the Aldridge Soul Club and various other clubs around the Telford area as well as a former resident at Welshpool Soul Club events. Caernarfon based John Owen Parry DJ'd at our previous Dayer, in the Rnb room in Prestatyn, at various clubs around the coast, and at the excellent 'Box' in Crewe. Proud Scot Barry Martin is usually seen strutting his stuff on the dance floor but recently loaded his records and leaving his Stirling home to guest in various clubs across Scotland, including the recent Aberdeen All Dayer. He's also guest at Soul Redemption in Aberdeen, the week before he comes to us! Local heros Steve El Tash Roberts & Richie Roberts are our second double deckers. They've done many, many spots and venues for me over the years, and were recent guests at the prestigious Seaside Soul, Llandudno. Johnny R Roberts is the man (together with Mark Speakman) responsible for carrying on the late, great Chico's legacy which is the fantastic 'On The Pier Side' Weekender, Llandudno, as well as the Colwyn Bay Pier re-unions. Johnny recently guested at the Llandudno Soul Club 14th Anniversary event and will be spinning at Seaside Soul in 10 days. Wrexhams Kev Jones has been a great friend for 40 years and is Mr Broughton Wings, having made the club the longest running monthly soul night in North Wales and beyond. Having partnered Soul Sam for several years, Kev took the club to new heights when Sam stepped down. Kev's DJ cv is too extensive to even summarise here! Another who has been there and done it all, is Tot Johnson who is resident at the long running Winnington Rec Club. Tot has been a Soul Train Soul Night guest on several occasions including our very first This Is Northern Soul Night at the majestic Memorial Hall, Wrexham. For those not going to Blackpool, make a note for our Brymbo, near Wrexham All Dayer in Saturday 30th April!

  13. Without doubt we've lost one of the best. No mater what Chico played be it rarest of the rare or a £1 record he played it with the same enthusiasm. He certainly knew how to create an atmosphere and get the crowd on the dance floor. No politics just great music. RIP my friend I am going to miss you.

  19. Happy drinker is opposite the 4R Salou Park Hotel. See link below. Had a look on Google streets (from April 15) and it looks like the Northern Soul sign is still there but very difficult to see. https://goo.gl/maps/zUppVRwJRxS2
