discography of TMG singles
I was in Manchester and spotted a record fair. A stall had a lot of Motown. I'd stopped years previous and couldn't believe some prices. I asked the dealer ( Brighton I think) how much he would give me for certain TMGs...Barbara McNair, Billy Eckstine, Contours, Hit Pack...nearly all of them. I don't think he believed me. I lived 15 minutes walk away...went home and put the lot in a suitcase and returned to the fair. We split the lot into groups A, B, C of rarity etc. Walked out with about £300. I think I had a few holidays on it.

discography of TMG singles
When I started, I had an exercise book and had to seek out adverts in record Mirror, NME etc. No internet, fanzines, really. Only 13/14, I didn't know where to find this stuff really. Gaps were usually found in Barry's Record shop on Blackfriars, listed in his hand written exercise book of ALL UK releases. Even then, it was difficulty. I had about 4 titles for Smokey's " whole lot of shaking in my heart.....Since i met you, since you've been gone, since I lost you etc. Great days!

- James Jamerson and Carol kaye revisited
Carole Kaye played ln a lot of Motown seesions, but these were in L.A. The L.A. session group ( The Wrecking group), recorded cover versions of Detroit sandards and some ended up on LPs ( Supremes A go go for e.g.) The L.A. setup also recorded Jobete demos to hawk around music publishing companies. Also, Television shows and studio backing tracks. There were LA tracks issued as Originals such as More Love, Love is here and now you're gone, Forever came today etc. So the familiar tracks she talks of are covers. All the people, and records from Detroit have stated this. HDH, Ralph Terrana, Bob Ohlson etc. At best she is confused....her " records" note the songs she performed on but they are NOT the originals.- BBC Radio 6 Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wigan Casino with a 'Northern Soul All-Nighter'
Dukeofburgundy, That's a fair summing up. I think what frustrates some , is the fact that the BBC ( having made a big splash about NS) didn't use some qualified people to explain the history of Soul Music both here and the USA, and how that translated into 1,000s of 45s being introduced to the UK and building upon an underground club scene, rather than things like interviewing " Northern Soul LEGEND" Lorraine Silver. But the music was enjoyable.- BBC Radio 6 Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of Wigan Casino with a 'Northern Soul All-Nighter'
The Music was very good. however,If they don't get the facts right, the piece loses credibility. Daily Mail did a recent s**t raking story on Man United Director of Football John Murtough ( Fair enough, however the photo attached to the piece was the CEO Richard Arnold. So if they can't get that right, you take the story with a ton of salt.- The Mortimer & Whitehouse playlist?
