  1. R I P Gladys Horton - a marvellous Marvelette - headed now for Destination, Anywhere
  2. A big club fave back in the mid 60ts in my clubs, still a fave of mine to this day, Melvin Franklin of The Temptations on opening monolgue of course
  3. Truly gutted by this. RIP Gladys Horton, a class act all her life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ObLHPaBClgI
  4. gREAT DOUBLE SIDER Mr D. T.C
  5. Gutted!, how many more? and at 66 it isn't really that old is it RIP Gladys
  6. Talking of pod casts, there is a Gaurdian Newspaper Motown one on iTunes right now (free download) where Steve Levine talks and plays Motown isolated tracks and discusses recording techniques from back in the day...
  7. It was originally supposed to be out in September of last year , but there's been a minor contractual thing on Candi's Fame sides that has taken a while to get 100% sorted. It's now rectified, and that will allow us to release it sometime during the next few months on CD and hopefully on vinyl in due course. That's the reason why only a couple of DJs have got it on CDr - we really didn't want it to be played everywhere, and not be able to back up its popularity with a firm release date. Truth is that they got a bit lucky - had we known that there was going to be a small hump to get over, we wouldn't have let it out - to anyone! - as early as we did... ...But 'soon come', in any event!
  8. Great news Ady Looking forward to being able to hear Spencer Wiggins all the way through without Plumby telling us how he's "BURSTING TO PLAY THIS"
  9. I used to go to the Alniters at the Ritz in the 90's with my old friend Simon from Sth London. We also went along to a couple of Rarest of the Rare alniters and they were awesome. I thought the venue had been lost forever when Mecca sold it a few years ago. Glad to see Soul events back at this great venue.I have just bought a couple of tickets for the alldayer. Was not old enough in 76 to have gone then (only 10 years old). Looking forward to it very much. Have promoted the event on my Facebook page. First time on Soul Source for ages!! KTF. Watford Chris.
  10. not it lad, cheers for post
  11. That's funny! I saw Jack and Joe there too! I remember Joe saying to me that Jack had put his mallets down during rehearsal and could not find them. I suggested he used his fingers....
  12. Still buzzin from the night and my birthday morning flashback is of how good that old Dome favourite Kelly Brothers sounded
  13. Thanks Kev and Has - I will let you know should I proceed. Of course Harry, you would feature somewhere regarding 'Suddenly there's you' ha ha......After listening to your programme on Sunday night, and Soul Gang last night, I wonder whether it is ever worth writing new songs. Those that I heard are perfect, and can never be replaced! But.......there was a time when even those songs and ideas were just a fleeting moment in somebody's head in the 1960's. Thank God they used whatever skills they had and pursued the recordings and releases. The stories that keep cropping up are priceless. I too have interesting tit bits about meeting some of these people especially Uriel Jones, because I cleaned his shoes no less than 3 times during the transition from meeting him to actually having him on the Detroit session etc...Meeting Joe Hunter, the lavender deodorant Jack Ashford asked me to find for him (after he bought some in the UK in the 60's!!). Anyway, more news whenever....
  14. Well, what can I say? These look back posts are fantastic. They epitomize exactly what the Burnley Nighter is about. Great People, Great music, having a Great time! Despite a few teething problems, which will be addressed for the next one, we couldn't have wished for better. Your very expressive posts say it all but I'd like to thank all those involved for making it work: Dusty, Gary, Neil for your assistance with the equipment, Gary & Linda for the thankless task on the door (excellent job). Chris Waterman for the wristbands and going out the way to meet me. Our Brilliant, Passionate DJ's, Joan, Willie, Danny, Stuart, Cliff and Fred for their musically perfect sets (spot on!). Kate and Jayne for standing by us xx. Above all, Phil Kowalski for creating something special in the first place. Fantastic to see so many people in attendance, taking the time and trouble to travel so far to join us on our first night. Making it a very special night. Thank you all so much, Sean p.s. And Mike Cog for suggesting it to me
  15. Hi I saw Woody but dont think he recognised me but I didnt see you...... like you said Lou it was so busy.
  16. That's ok Mike It's all coming back to me now though, we were both dancing and you told me to watch out for the jump in the record.....but I thought you said 'watch Big Paul cause he's going to jump in a minute'.....so I watched Big Paul but he didnt jump Also forgot to say thank you to Dave and Lou for the CD.....great photos of Kyle, mainly with a joint in his hand, they've made me smile.

  23. . I'll leave you with the quote of the night from a young male member of bar staff chatting outside... "Have you seen all the old folks in there? They're bang on one having a brilliant time. By heck I hope I'm like that when I get to 70 too!" Tee x CLASS
