  1. Here are my biggest favourites by The Four Tops on Motown... Still Water (Love) Still Water (Peace) In These Changing Times It's All In The Game Reflections Yesterday's Dreams Elusive Butterfly Can't Seem To Get You Out Of My Mind Do What You Gotta Do I'm In A Different World Bernadette 7 Rooms Of Gloom Ask The Lonely Baby I Need Your Loving I'll Turn To Stone Shake Me, Wake Me (When It's Over) Standing In The Shadows Of Love Where Did You Go Just As Long As You Need Me And my favourite from the ABC/Dunhill days is the soulful 'Look At My Baby'. They're all priceless. Paul
  2. One of my all time favourite soul records "ain't no woman like the one I got" 4 tops , Levi as in all his performances is top notch, could somebody put a clip of the above on as I have absolutely no idea how to do it ! Thanks in advance , Andrew
  3. Mate Levi Stubbs one of the greatest SOUL voices ever.I had the greatest luck to see the tops and the temps live as my then gf was a product manager at polydor/motown think was hammersmith what a night ever seen a big man cry(sounds familiar) went back stage only one left was Mr Melvin Franklin arm in a cast such a sweet man.......levi you are still loved by so many rip soul brother and may your voice continue to bring tears to my eyes.
  4. Still sadly missed, my favourites would include.. ASK THE LONELY LOVING YOU IS SWEETER WALK AWAY RENEE SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE BABY I NEED YOUR LOVING The list is endless really. RIP Levi
  5. I agree with some of the earlier comments, You get to see the same old stuff! Refreshing to see towards the end the younger generation getting involved (Wigan Young Souls). I think they should run a documentary about to-days scene and where its going to go? All In all not bad show, but could have done to be an hour. I liked the way the came at the subject from a different angle, but eventually you get to the crooks of the thing and its the same old material. Although from a new Soulie perspective it was a "Idiots Guide to Northern Soul" in a nutshell.
  6. Brilliant I could listen to them 2 talking for hours and hours .....
  7. no kung fu kicks at the twisted wheel...... just proper dancing ....underground soul at its best !
  8. "Less is more"...the less the general public knew about it the more it was exclusive What used to be a genuine cool and underground soul scene could have done without naff films embarrassing tv shows and tat advertising imho but there again nothing lasts forever....shame its now lost that "something"
  9. Re:Culture Show Well done Paul Mason good prospective of northern soul most came across positive in my eyes of someone who was into the music and went back also a nice touch showing the up and coming younger interest not just about the past although 40th Wigan ann it may be of an interest for people seeing the show for the first time and not knowing about the northern soul underground culture that still carries on today-interesting interview that wasn't shown with Mr Searling always great stories from him - nice to see the Cambridge Soul badge in the show
  10. Up on Youtube already, for any folk who missed it, link below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMtaEASd2LI ATB Ronnie
  11. Hi, believe me I really do hope the film is a massive success. Everyone concerned has put a huge amount of effort into it. The bar was set by Paul Sadot's stage show but then it came crashing down with Soul Boy which irrespective of the subject was truly truly dire. So good luck to Elaine and her team lets hope it's a peach.......
  12. Was pleasantly surprised, expected same old same old. but got a decent review (imo) of the scene and a great soundtrack. Well done to all those involved.
  13. some good clips on what to expect from the film
  14. Not too bad and certainly not as much as as an advert for "The Film" as I was expecting.......
  15. Just read it. Really well put together. Good job Gareth !
  16. Yeah, master stroke bringin' them together even if I do say so myself lol Think they jus' might do sommat special together on Sunday I hope.
  17. The tickets are going like crazy for this event, I will ask JB if she can include this in the set Jordirip. Hope you can make the event.
  18. I have now read this cover to cover twice in two sittings. In my view this is the best book on the subject by far and the only one that gets the Stafford / post Stafford era which all others fail to do. It doesn't hold back, warts and all and is visually stunning. I also love the words of Joel, Ollie etc at the end which actually gives me a bit of hope. Ive been recommending this far and wide, propper quality and argurs well for the film.
  19. I really liked that elbow one cantbwait to hear this I'm drunk
  20. my copy arrived today, first impressions.....I really like it,this could well end up in some peoples crimbo socks, along with some amphetamines.................................sorry,tangerines,i meant tangerines, always get those two mixed up.
  21. Huge talent. RIP Bobby.
