  1. i seem to have created a bit of a stirr,, i am soulskins partner and borrowed his profile as i didnt have one then,, soulskin is by no means dishonest about anything,, and i did not intentionally mean this mix up to happen,, it said u could put annonimous comments on so whats the difference,, anyhow hope this clears gareth name,, im the guilty misunderstood one,,
  2. i think u misunderstand no one is putting anyone down,, its hard to put it accross without offending ,, please believe this ,, what it is ,,people feel there individual feelings at points in their lives,, u will in your journey ,, because thats what life is a journey, a very individual one, sometimes something brings a group of people together and a karma is felt amongst them,, yes u will feel yours with whoever ,, what was felt back then belongs too the people who felt it,, u will feel yours and no one can take that away from u,, wishing u all the best and hoping this helps u understand a small bit of what has been said,, good luck and good karma too u ,,xx
  3. hi , re your like on soulskin comment,, hi im karen and i borrowed my partnersprofile as i didnt have one ,, oops i think i created a bit of a stirr,, oh well,,, too the point i noticed that u understood wer i was coming from which leads me to blieve u r one of the special creed,,we are having a re union of the special creed at the above venue,, tickets are selling fast already and are limited, would be great if u could attend and like minded soulies from back then,, and it will be fab to see how many people we remember,,if u are up for a great re union, tickets £5 office box 01282661234 best wishes karen,KTF
  4. Great suggestion Dave, lets hope eh!
  5. i think i can still get away with it , portray myself as 20 or am i just deluded , please dont ruin my version of reality i too am looking forward to any film based around a genre that i have found great pleasure in for a great number of years, it can only bring a smile to my face and that in its self is worth a fortune .
  6. Me being one of these "kids" i would like to put my point accross, i am 25 years old and attended my first northern soul nighter at 15 years old with my dad, since then i have done nothing but attend all nighters, weekenders, etc. i am not in it just for the film and to be quite honest with you im probably not going to even be in the film due to work commitments, please for the love of god stop slaggin off the film, the youngsters and we are true soulies, im sure my record collection would blow the bollocks off alot of you lot (before you say it its not all comercial either) xx
  7. yeh i'll 'do you a favour' and point out why iam ranting.yes no one on this has actually posted that exact set of words(yet),but i do know there is a soul source member who has used them publicaly and ive no doubt he will or has read this.as he also goes on FB and critacises everything these kids do
  8. i would like to point out to those of you that think these kids are in this just as a short cut to being famous BOLLOCKS!,ive got to know some of these kids who attend a dance session in the north of england, they're true SOULIES who attend weekenders, soul nights and allnighters up and down the country, collect records, some dj at venues-not bad for kids with "no real interest in the scene".most of these youngsters are sons and daughters of soulies, some collect and wear vintage 70s clothes during the day(how many 40 and 50 yr olds do this?)They attend these dance sessions to hone their skills and perfect their technique yes for the film as Elaine wants to recreate authentic 70s dancin(they are bein guided by old soulies not dance teachers who have been around the scene for years) and also as a social get together so they can plan their weekends rippin up a dance floor now back off and stop tryin to put them off as they're the future of a scene non of us wants to see die with us
  9. I believe that people who want 2 sharing book a 1 bedroom and sell the remaining 2 wristbands to offset the cost
  10. never been mite give this one a try. hope i can get time off . do they do chalets for 2 people?
  11. I am very pleased to report that Tony has received his iPod shuffle full of many of his favourite northern tracks from the early seventies era. Loads of classic tunes from the Mecca, Torch, Catacombs, etc. We hear he is chuffed to bits with it and really appreciates all your messages and hopes he can attend the event in November at the Blackpool Tower Weekender. Tickets from: www.goldsoul.co.uk Hope to see you there Dave Burton.
  12. yes i think it is him, he knows every word to every record he puts on ..and enjoys it all..met him in manchester at soul weekend ..wish they would get him in the modern room in prestatyn ..
  13. Roger always came up with the Goods.I always will remember those times you Djed on the Radio(with Roger),Dave.I came away being an Alcoholic!!!! Thanks MiksMix,a pleasure.
  14. Got to agree the radio station was always good, roger an hoss,s sunday mornin slot was a must listen to .It was a great bonus to the the weekender to have the radio station playing away in the back ground when you were in your chalet.A lot of the time it was far better than some of the music on offer in the venue. No disrespect to any djs intended but as previously stated, some of the radio only jocks worked far harder at there spots than some djin in the venue.
  15. so glad its back, ive booked , glad i did it early chalets are going quick..i would like to see dj Boogaloo in the modern room, saw him in manchester, great dj and lovely guy..think hes from denmark ?
  16. Thanks phatness, for those words.Whenever I could,I tried to get rid of the Beer Glasses,Takeaway Food Containers etc.-through taking Black Bags up to the Radio Room(in the morning).I was seen one morning brushing the Floor around Hoss and Roger Banks(through the small Camera on the Screen). Those two b*st*rds went out of their way sometimes LOL.The smell you could not get rid of(tried Fresh Air Sprays etc.). On the 60s side,I tried to vary the Music somewhat, to let Listeners have an idea that it did not need to be the same old, same old. Here I would like to thank all the Presenters who did Shows for me.They actually thought about their Shows, and came up with good ideas. There was some Djs but also a few Collectors as well(including a couple of Lady Presenters). It was not about Radio Professionalism it was about Quality of Music. Not just some Dj turning up playing what he would play on his Set(in the Main Room)-without too much thought.
  17. You can't disagree with Cunnie's comments....those early ones were the crackers when the Wigleymeister and the Fishmeister were organising and the acts then did get a big intro and Rob did masses to put Prestatyn on the soul map with March and October and I for one, despite liking everybody else too, missed him up there. That smell in the radio room, however was probably the amount of drunk presenters breaking wind. I once ate a full take away curry in there and the stinky remains were still there 24 hours later and we've had a few good beer sessions that have evolved while doing shows. One thing for sure the radio will be difficult to match however it evolves.....over the years I listened to very witty broadcasts and witnessed great music played and did quite a few shows myself that I loved while pissed, sensible and sober and just hungover and to go away from Colin's and Mark's organisation and Rob's earlier won't have quite the same charm. The spread of music in that dodgy radio room with it's questionable set up was always something that the weekender should have embraced and not tried to alter. I've never understood the desire of people to f*ck around with things that aren't broke and i've experienced enough bosses who put the skids on something by doing so........at Prestatyn it was never about the radio achieving heights, as at the end of the day it gets put out through a low end mono tv in the chalet and not via some impressive digital feed, so it makes even the longest serving most professional presenter not sound his/her best. It was, and still should be, about letting people play music from their hearts whether they have heaps of radio experience or not and make it an extension of the charm and giggles had up there. It's gonna be difficult to re-capture the laughs of the first ten years but I hope it gets somewhere near.
  18. At least there was no "Old Pals Act" or"Ghost"Djs on my Shift.
  19. only weekender i bother with luv it here, fantastic news and looking forward to seeing the vibrations ,well done to the folks whos who have secured this event behind the scenes ... ktf tommo.

  24. There are so many who deserve a massive thank you for their contributions that made Prestatyn such a success and the radio was part of this, this includes all who contributed to Channel 6 It has moved on but I feel sure that the new format will provide a similar result
