  1. Christmas Party This months DJ's joining Dave and myself for our annual Christmas Shindig will be Gal (Mr M's) Phil Jones, Geoff Green, Marshy and Ratty Book your space on the dancefloor Food will be available this night The room will look great in what will be a very warm and friendly atmosphere
  2. Last month we paid our respects to the legendary Wigan Casino with the DJ's playing Wigan Anthems and some of the forgotten records that were played at the iconic venue, it was great to see the dance floor was busy within minutes of opening. This month Dave and I are especially delighted our good friend, and one of the scenes busiest DJ's Mr Colin Law will be joining us behind the decks, leaving his native Scotland for a few days. Colin's reputation for playing fast and furious stompers and his love of dancing to great soul music is well known to many so I'm sure some will have aching limbs the following day having danced to quality 45's. Not only is Colin (Stanley to me) a great DJ he is also one of the UK's top collectors and the man behind North Broad Street Records and the Tuesoul Weekenders in Edinburgh, which have been running for a long time. With Colin travelling from Edinburgh (Peebles) he will be doing two 60 minute sets so he can catch up with a few friends and perhaps give the dancers time for rest. Colin is off to the States searching for more great vinyl a few days after he DJ's at St Mary's, hopefully whilst sitting on the plane he can lookback to his first appearance at St Mary's and a great night. The venue is one of the best locally, very comfortable with a great dance floor and cheap bar prices. This is going to be one of the best local nights so don't miss out, everyone welcome apart from Soul Police
  3. After a very successful inaugural Alldayer in August we are ready to go again on Sunday 26th. Supporting the resident DJ's Bob Spendlove, Dave Cartlidge & Pete Ratcliffe will be Howard Bevan, Carol Gilboy, Dave Lucas and Dave Flint ( 4 Brilliant guests with great collections) As ever the Music policy will be Classic Northern, Underplayed Oldies, Mid Tempo dancers and up beat Crossover with a strong focus on dancefloor fillers.
  4. Following on from our first event at our new venue in September 2025 we return to our normal first Friday of the month. For those who have never been to any of our events we have been running for almost nine years focusing on great soul music booking some of the UK's top DJ's The guest DJ's joining Dave Cartlidge and myself in September are two very well known local DJ's with perhaps more combined hours behind the decks than most. In the Red Corner we have Wigan's own Pie eater, Mr Ian Wills who will be spinning some great tunes from his collection keeping the dance floor busy. In the Blue Corner we have Bolton's own Trotter, Mr Derek Watmough who like Ian will be ensuring the dance floor is busy Ian and Derek have over 100 years of collecting the music we love so it goes without saying we will be treated to some fantastic soulful dance music. Parking - Please use the free Multi-story car park at Radcliffe Metro Station (M26 2SZ) a three minute walk to the venue. Everyone Welcome
  5. After several years of consideration we are delighted to start running Sunday Alldayer's as we feel there is a gap in the local area that concentrates on the quality of music above anything else. We have been running a very successful Friday soul night for almost nine years with the focus being on classic oldies, underplayed forgotten gems, crossover and some lesser played Motown tracks/ Acetates, with each record being on it's authentic original label. Dave Cartlidge and Pete Ratcliffe will be joining myself as resident DJ's supported by regular guests who are experienced collectors / DJ's who are come from all points of the UK and Europe. Our guest DJ's for our inaugural Alldayer are, Gary Mattock, Phil Broadhurst and two of Soul Liberations residents and founders, Tony Ollier & Griff The event is Free all we ask is for a donation to the MNDA Charity which we will forward all donations to Cliff Steele, one of the scenes gentlemen and top collector / DJ who works tirelessly for his chosen Charity. Parking - Please use the free Multi-story Car Park at Radcliffe Metro Station (M26 2SZ) a three minute walk to the venue.
  6. After 8 years at the Shirt Club and following our summer break we have now moved to a larger venue with better facilities, including a brilliant dance floor. This month the resident DJ's Bob Spendlove & Dave Cartlidge are supported by Bernard Lowe who has a great collection, built up after many "digging trips" to the States and Sam "The Reverend" McConnell who is no stranger to the decks in Radcliffe prior to leaving the town for his new life in Thailand. Musically we have built up a very respectful audience who appreciate the music we play, all on original vinyl, from Classic Oldies, Rare 60's & 70's, Crossover, Motown and unknown acetates. Our main ethos has always been to focus on the quality and history of what we play and to the creativity of artists who have recorded up-tempo dance music. By booking some of the UK's most knowledgeable and experienced Collectors / DJ's as guests our reputation has been greatly enhanced. Please note the venue is less than a mile away from the Shirt Club and a two minute walk from the Metro station in Radcliffe which is very convenient.

Following last months soul night when Tim Ashibende & Fradders once again delivered pure quality soul music, we are delighted to announce Dave Flint will be our guest DJ at the April's Shirt Club. Dave has a fantastic collection and is one of Manchesters best kept secrets. Dave was a regular guest DJ for Carl & Maria Willingham due to his reputation for simply playing great music and filling dance floors. Don't mention Marcus Rashford to him 😂😂

Stoke on Tour in March 2025 Dave Cartlidge & myself are joined by three of Stoke’s finest collectors & DJ’s Tim Ashibende will be making a swift return after his appearance in September 2024 when he treated us to his incredible knowledge of artists, producers and label owners, not to mention some brilliant music keeping the dance floor rammed. Without doubt one of the best DJ’s around. Johnny Beggs, one of Stoke’s main collectors and like Tim a mindful of knowledge. Hopefully he will bring a few unknowns off his treasured master tapes. Fradders will be be making another return to the Shirt Club having already visited us several times. A very in demand and busy guest DJ, from Stoke to France via Barbados. Fradders also presents a regular radio show covering all genres of Soul Music No doubt the above will bring out the best in Dave & myself and March 7th will be an evening of sublime soul music and a very busy dance floor. Stoke on Tour so makes so your in early to secure a seat.

After a great event in January we are delighted to announce this months guest DJ’s joining Dave and myself are. Paul “Pep” Hayden - One of the main men behind the successful Newtown Alldayers in Wigan. Derek “The Duck” Watmough one of the scene’s longest servants and a DJ of vast knowledge & experience. On a personal level I’m really pleased one of my besties, Phil Broadhurst is back behind the decks on Friday. As many of you will know Phil has been away from the scene for a few years caring for Linda who sadly lost her battle and passed away recently. Obviously a very tough and emotional time for Phil. Phil is one of the scene’s Gentlemen so I hope many of you can join us on Friday and support Phil’s return to the decks and being back amongst his friends, I know he’s really looking forward to playing some great music for his friends. A venue for lovers of authentic soul music with something for everyone
  10. Kicking off our 9th year, this month Dave Cartlidge and myself are delighted that joining us behind the decks will be two of the country’s top DJ’s. From the Midlands we have the scenes busiest DJ Ted Massey who certainly knows how to fill the dance floor. Along with Ted we have local Wigan resident and committed soul enthusiast Jordan Wilson, who is keeping the scene alive and the main pioneer for the younger generation. It goes without saying both Ted & Jordan will play fantastic music keeping the dance floor busy. This is a night not to be missed if you like great upbeat soul music. Great venue, atmosphere, dance floor and cheap bar prices. Everyone welcome.

This month Dave & myself will be joined behind the decks by Little George, who no doubt will blend his experience and knowledge to deliver a magical set. Natalie and Alan have been rescheduled for early in 2025 Whilst normal service will be resumed musically after our successful MOTOWN v PHILLY night there will be a special nostalgic hour, that will transport us back to the Casino from the 19th March 1977, it will mirror a recording I did on the night. You will need your dancing shoes 👞 🥿 I hope you will join us for our last event of 2024 which has seen some fantastic nights and great guest DJ’s Everyone welcome to enjoy the Shirts renowned atmosphere, magical music, great dance floor, and cheap drinks. See you on the 6th Dec for finale 2024 Night then onto our 9th year in 2025 Thanks for your incredible support in 2024
  12. In addition to our regular Soul Nights this month we are holding a clash of the labels, Motown v Philadelphia International. Without doubt two of the most iconic record labels to exist. This is definitely a night for the dancers finger snappers, oh and a room full of those simply singing along to music we all love. DJ’s Bob Spendlove, Pete Ratcliffe, Gary Mattock & Phil Jones playing records that others don’t. in the words of Lou Rawls - See you when I get there.
  13. This month joining our resident DJ’s Bob Spendlove and Dave Cartlidge we are delighted to have Chris Anderton, Dave Lucas and Carl Edborg guesting for us. Chris is a renowned Collector, DJ, promoter and record dealer. Along with Dave Lucas he is the man behind the fantastic DAB events, including the DAB radio show every Monday evening and of course the brilliant DAB Weekender. Chris also runs Midas Touch Records, supplying great in-demand vinyl. Dave, has been collecting soul music since Derby won the old First Division and is a font of knowledge, he’s also a very nice chap and a very experienced DJ Some of you may not know Carl well but in my opinion he is the best thing to come out of Sweden 🇸🇪 since Volvo & IKEA’s Meatballs / Dime bars. He is without doubt a fantastic DJ with a collection that speaks for itself. Carl is happy playing a £5 record as much as he is digging a £5k record out, he is so musically focused to the dance floor. The only warning I have don’t try and go pint for pint with him he has no boundaries. Beer in Sweden is expensive so he fills his boots when in the UK All three are gentlemen who will deliver a master class of great soul music.
  14. Joining our resident DJ’s Bob Spendlove & Dave Cartlidge, this month we are delighted to have two of the scenes most knowledgeable, respected and experienced guest DJ’s. Tim Asibende & Baz Maleady Tim is without doubt one of the soul scenes legendary DJ’s / Collectors and dealers, discovering many of the records we love, developing relationships with the artists, producers & label owners. Baz is a renowned collector, DJ and promoter, currently the man behind the North West’s best two roomed event Cultcheth. The Shirt Club is now in it’s 8th year, which is a testament to the quality of National DJ’s we invite to keep the dance floor busy and the atmosphere passionate, full of soul
  15. This month the Shirt Club night will be dedicated to one of our regular members who sadly passed away recently, Lee Kenny. For over 8 years Lee was part of the team often our roadie and technical director. The music will be our regular mix of oldies, crossover and the odd unknown thrown in. Guest DJ’s joining Dave Cartlidge & Bob Spendlove will be Andy McCabe, Ashley Fellows & Sam McConnell (Lee’s cousin)
