  2. When I was speaking to Paul Rowan on Friday afternoon , I mentioned to him that Stan Spencer had been mentioned on the forum , and he recalled one particular time we encountered him .

Stan had been released a couple of days earlier from Strangeways , and when asked how it had been , he replied " If I stood on my chair in the cell and looked out through the bars on the window , I could see The Wheel "

    Top man .

    Malc

Hi Malc , firstly we met a few years ago at a very very cold Cleethorpes , when paul was D.J.ing

Secondly , surely you were "listening" to Paul , and I bet the conversation might have started in the afternoon .............and ended in the evening !!!!!!!!! he truly can talk the hind legs off a donkey . I tend to only ring him when I have excess minutes left at the end of the month , lol

    WiganBrian .

  4. Wasn't there a station called Bryn that was between the two of them...?

WIGAN NORTH WESTERN AND WIGAN WALLGATE ARE A HUNDRED YARDS APART, NEXT TO THE TOWN CENTRE , BRYN IS ON THE OUTSKIRTS NEAR ASHTON IN MAKERFIELD .

GREAT READING ALL THESE MEMORIES. PERHAPS SOMEONE SHOULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT PERSONAL MEMORIES ??????????

  5. 1)Getting in/there-Never having the money but refusing to give up getting there and getting in-had some quite interesting escapes/captures,that back bridge at Wigan north western station got some usage;).

2)Friends-still after all these years keeping in touch or getting back in touch with old friends who now live in most parts of the world.

3)Being fed up on the sunday/monday when it was back to normal life,it was a downer even if you didn't take anything;).

THE BACK BRIDGE WAS KNOWN AS THE "IRON BRIDGE " AND WAS THE LEGENDERY MEETING PLACE WHERE SCHOOLKIDS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS WOULD MEET ON SATURDAY MORNINGS OR AFTER SCHOOL FOR A RUMBLE , WHAT A PLACE FOR AN AMBUSH .

MEETING MATES AT" SHOE SHOP CORNER " AND BRICKING IT "AS I WAITED ON MY OWN, TRYING NOT TO MAKE EYE CONTACT WITH THE PUNKS .

THOSE TOILETS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ONLY OUTDONE BY THE BOGS IN PEMPS A SMALL CLUB A FEW HUNDRED YARDS FROM STATION RD` BEHIND WALLGATE STATION .

THE LAST TRAIN FROM ORRELL ( NR WIGAN ) DODGING THE TICKET INSPECTOR ,NOBODY EVER PAID .

    MEMORIES !!!!

  7. WHAT MORE CAN BE SAID ABOUT DAVE. TOP MAN, WHO'S GOT TIME FOR ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY.KNOWN DAVE SINCE MY WIGAN DAYS AS A YOUNG 16year old sprogg.HIS OLDIES WERE NEWIES FOR US KIDS THEN, WHO WERE JUST GETTING INTO THE SCENE. THATS WHY I'VE GOT NO PROBLEMS WITH THE DJ's OF TODAY PLAYING GOOD UNDERPLAYED OLDIES. IN THEM EARLY DAYS I COULD ASK EVO OR NOGGER [ NEIL ALLEN ] ABOUT CERTAIN SOUNDS WHICH I HAD HEARD, BUT DID'NT KNOW EITHER THE ARTIST OR TITLE. OR EVEN BOTH AND DAVE OR NEIL WOULD OBLIDGE. THERE WAS NO LOOKING DOWN ON YOU AS THOUGH

YOU WERE A THICK c***. DAVE SEEMED TO APPRECIATE THE YOUNG'ENS APPRECATION OF THE MUSIC AND THE MUSIC HE LOVED TOO.HE WAS LIKE A RECRUITOR FOR THE SOUL SCENE FOR US ETHUSTIAC YOUNG'ENS. DAVE HAS BEEN ROBBED OF HIS ENTIRE COLLECTION ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASSION, BUT HAS SOMEHOW MANAGED TO BOUNCE BACK. HE'LL DO OWT FOR ANYBODY IF HE CAN. 1979 [ ME A YOUNG 21 YEAR SOUL + STOKE FAN, [ THIS THE LAST TIME STOKE GOT PROMOTED TO THE TOP LEAGUE ] DAVE A STOKE FAN BUT LIVING IN MANCHESTER AT THE TIME, STOKE WERE PLAYING AT WREXHAM AND I HAD NO WAY OF GETTING THERRE, DAVE DUELY OBLIDGED AND CAME ALL THE WAY TO STOKE TO PICK ME UP AND TAKE TO THE WREXHAM STOKE GAME. A MAN WITH A HEART OF GOLD.NEVER LOOKS DOWN ON ANYBODY OR THINKS HE BETTER THAN ANYBODY AND WILL TALK STOKE + SOUL ALL DAY AND NIGHT. A TRUE SOUL BROTHER. LOVE YA DAVE.YESTERDAY'S OLDIES ARE THE NEWIES FOR TODAY'S YOUNG'ENS EMBRACING OUR MUSIC.

Dave Evison couldn`t look down on anyone he`s only "five foot four "and as for being "GOD" surely
