Currently watching Memento Mori a Spanish Walter presents, serial killer on the loose, lead actor has me convinced, I tense up every time he's on the screen. Think there's going to be an interesting twist somewhere along the line or maybe one line of dialogue was a red herring?

Hello mate, I hope you're well. This is a great show. 🤫

  2. Thanks for posting them up Steve.

As a personal observation I've never understood the Wayne Gibson record? It may have something to do with the fact that it was always played on the Waltzer at Mablethorpe amusement park when I worked up there as a summer job in the mid 70's. I just don't like it and personally don't think it fits in a northern soul playlist/do.

  3. Sad news indeed Karl. Jimmy was well known in this household for his amazing sets at Rock City and further afield. Progressive, knowledgeable and above all, a DJ who kept us dancers happy. A true stalwart of the Northern Soul scene.

Sincere condolences to his family and close friends, he will be sadly missed.

    Best wishes.

    Hi Richard

It's been a while my old friend. Not so bad here thank you. I hope all is well with you.

I presume you're referring to my recommendation regarding Quarry?

  5. I find Mobland too tongue in cheek I'm afraid. I didn't rate This City is Ours either.

People really need to watch Quarry.

What a fantastic evolution from Kev Roberts ridiculously titled

World Northern Soul Dance Championships - real name Blackpool Dance Competition.

An individual who is actually convinced by the title.

Oxy and Moron come to mind as she explains that Northern Soul dancing is not about choreography, whilst using choreography to teach.....an Oxymoron indeed.

Before admin say something, this is a product review not a review of the person.

Interested in your thoughts....perhaps the individuals who judge the dubious event, care to comment on her World status?

Wow! The mind boggles - and she does it all with a straight face; and such loving sincerity.

I've been watching Quarry. It's about a Vietnam veteran who returns home and gets sucked into the underworld. Some great acting, brilliant character performances. And; it has a wicked sound track theme, proper soul and blues music from the little club scenes, and whenever there's a radio playing. It has people flicking through vinyl 45's and albums and record shops.  It's set in Memphis, and was filmed there and in New Orleans. It also features the racial tensions that existed at the time, and the racist violence that the black community had to endure.

    Well worth a watch.

Been watching a bit more and upgrading my well worth a watch to it's an extremely good watch - best thing I've watched for ages.

Sorry but anything containing those bloody awful synth 'pew-pews' has no place at an all-niter ... 🤮

The MD1932 release is acceptable though ...

    You're just showing off Steve!

There are a number of different releases - I like them all. Back in the day, dancing my socks off I never knew/wouldn't have noticed whether the bongos were bonging or not!

It's a modern soul anthem; I love it.

I hope all is well mate.

I'd love to see an otter in the wild. I know they're making a come back in some rivers. Much to the disdain of some anglers - one or two on here!

Great pics Mick, well done mate.

Why shouldn't I buy records at normal prices?

You can do whatever you like. I've not read a single comment where anyone has suggested that you do anything otherwise.

I do think that you are starting to sound a little petulant.

I think everyone at Johnny's - including himself, have done a sterling job on what must have been/still is a monumental task. I don't collect anymore but when I did I always found John and his set up to be first class. I've heard nothing yet to change my mind. Delays were always going to happen and could have reasonably been expected.
