  1. It was YOU thats sugegsted he covered up My Babys coming back as Benny Harper,
  2. they were never 100mph stompers, what about Maxine Brown? I take yours and Ians point however if the Carstairs or the Montclairs had been played at the Torch would they now be refered to as Torch Monsters...If Ian Levine had played Robbie Lawson at the Torch it would now be up there with the torch top ten of all time. Another one for ya...Denise Laselle - Do Me Right????
  3. Baby Boy? Love Reputation? Nf Porter Keep on Keeping on?...I'll think of a few more later
  4. wasn;t that the other side Ian?
  5. the montclairs and the carstair imo were no where near as groud breaking as Bobby Franklin. They were an extension to a number of mid tempo records that were becoming more acceptable via the late days at the Totch and Va Va's. Bobby Patterson My Babys coming back to you is no different imo to the carstirs or the montclairs. My wife and I were at the Mecca the night Bobby Franklin was played for the first time, the look on peoples faces was one of shock followed by "go on my son"

3 - LEE ANDREWS - CANT DO WITHOUT YOU - LOST NITE - EX - £5 without question one of the greatest northern records of ALL-TIME.
  18. I'm using my husbands log in. Thanks for the Mecca Mr. Levine, pejoratived by individuals who never even patronised the greatest underground soul music venue of all time. Kay. A. Donnelly
  19. Ian, who in your opinion over the last 40 years has "done it" for you as DJ. Although Alan Day had that something special and over the last decade Butch and Croasdale have discovered some awesome recirds on a limited budget Colin Curtis was at the cutting edge for half a decade. between 1971 and 1976 and always 'did it' Any thoughts?
  20. Unlike you Ive have long term memory loss...now then the Jebb/Torch/Burton question, seriously was there issues as to why you didn't join, Day, Curtis Minsh and Martin, without you had the tunes at the time?????
  21. You won;t remember me Ian but I brought you down to Peterborough Wirrina in 1975 when you had all them orange advance copies on Tomorrows World??? the night Evelyn Thomas came down, she didn't sing just watched Danny Daniels dance... Like to ask you a question, I;m of an age where I appreciate what the Mecca did for the Northern Soul scene way before its change in direction in 1974...In fact I was around when those nasty folk stole your Earl Grant. Now then were you ever piffed off when Tony Jebb was given the Torch Job when most thought it should have been you in 72? I know you did it a few times but is there a story of contempt between you and Chris Burton
