Agree with Sweet Sherry, and having Rare Stamps since the early 70's, I have always been a fan of Baby Please Come Home which also came out on Contempo. As for the Montclairs, from my first hearing at the Mecca this is a record I never tire of hearing and not a bad B side either.

Saw Marvin at the Manchester Apollo mid/late 70's.During an excellent performance he introduced a female singer to take the place of Tammi Terrell and then sang some of their duets as a tribute to Tammi.Many people including myself were moved to tears by this.Also seem to remember people moved to tears during a Rita Wright(Syreeta)performance in Nottingham when she sang With You I Am Born Again.

Not got a great deal of the Dells on vinyl so I purchased the Give Your Baby A Standing Ovation Best Of Double CD and this is one of those I am always playing in the car.

Blackpool Mecca was my first of the major venues and was my favourite and choice although the atmosphere at Wigan was awesome. Although I did not make the Wheel or Torch, thankfully local DJ's like Fred Benson and Rick Scott kept me up to date with the sounds at time.I only made Stafford once and that was back in 1974. One thing that has surprised me is that so far there has been no mention of the Cleethorpes Pier which owing to attendances resulted in two all-nighters half a mile apart on the same night when Blackpool and Wigan were in their prime.When you talk about important venues, Cleethorpes played a very major role in both having its own idenity musically and for spreading the faith as they say to the eastern side of the UK.

Hi Marcus The book finally arrived from Amazon this wednesday morning,the same time as the Feb issue of Manifesto so now spoilt for a choice of read for a few days.Now I am waiting for the Detroit Spinners chrome collection treble CD to arrive from Amazon to wet my appetite for the tickets to see them at York Opera House which are now not due to come owing to the tour cancellation. Hi Brian, Tony is not a name familiar to me, the furthest I ventured in the late sixties,early sevenies was Attic/Top Rank at Doncaster ,where if i remember correct a guy called Tony Clarke dee-jayed at the Attic. When I look back at my own record collection a lot were bought from FL Moore at Leighton Buzzard, Doncaster market and Jacksons in Scunthorpe, but an awful lot more were purchased during visits to Fred's house ,and the only one of these I ever parted with was to swop the Fascinations on Sue for the Dynatones-Fife Piper which was big at that time. I have the book the In Crowd and Fred has his name somewhere in there i think from first reading. Steve

Just had an email from Amazon saying delayed while end of Feb beginning of March,ordered as a xmas present and unless cancelled and bought elsewhere may even miss my birthday in June.

Sorry Tony must have got carried away seeing individual names on other posts. I was disappointed with the Bobby Womack live video a few years ago but would still have liked to have seen him.Four Tops would be the group answer to the thread .
