  1. Loose conversational topic, I don't want an argument about what is and isn't 'soul' - just tracks that wouldn't fit the norm for a 'soul track' per se. The Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You
  2. Having very little cash bitd meant that I couldn't buy all the records I really wanted, so I used to Hoover up anything with a big hole in it from record shops, junk shops etc - if it looked like it may have been a soul single and it was cheap, it went home with me. The amount of money I've took in the last two year or so off ov selling those 10/20/50p singles that weren't in vogue back then would surprise you. Valid point.
  3. I'm feeling it Geordie. Know what you mean about feeling like you had to have 'em too,
  4. 30 more odss n sods added. Cheers More to follow
  5. I'm not even going to enter into it Mike.
  6. I've not thought that through, I was watching the Great British Menu on catch up with the wife and the thoughts came to me, so I've just stuck 'em down before I lost 'em - so they may be a tad dis-jointed.
  7. ....with a scene. As I have gone through my collection over the years, I used to struggle to sell things when I just had to. When my business went TU a lot of my big ticket items went and it hurt. But of late I've noticed it has not been that difficult to part with certain 7"s and that my purchases have been the records that reeeeaally mean something to me. Don't get me wrong, I still buy, always have but I've been wondering of late if I needed the scene that first turned me on to all this to keep me interested in collecting as many records as I used to, as I always wanted everything I'd danced to. I don't thin k that scene is there anymore - as a matter of fact I know it isn't. I think the scene now is turning me off a little as the central point for me appears to have changed - the central point being dancing and appreciating. I don't think that happens so much now and I know that as we get older certain elements of a scene will suffer, so I don't think the scene has twisted any, it's just coming to it's natural conclusion. I think I liked it more when it was a tad mysterious, when I was the whipping boy and had nothing to prove. I think I've grown up.
  8. https://www.ebay.co.u...=&_trksid=p3686 Few more to add later in the week Cheers
  9. "Ere mate - have you got...." "Contrast by Edwin Starr" "Spirally by Ce Ce Pedastal" "Tooth-ache" (True Faith and Final Cut) "Pea's, Pie, Pudding in my Mind" (The Bucketheads) "Sea-lions Ten Feet Tall" - Sweeter Than the Day Before - The Valentinos (do it, it works)
  10. No sound here but mate - the Sony Boot Mix was polished up though.
  11. Simple answer is 'no' really.
  12. The Classic Boot Mix that Sony released wasn't the same as the orig. wl.
  13. It didn't.
  14. They are - the Tony Humphries mix was the one on the (numbered) dp's - there are a number of other Sony-forged mixes also, across vinyl promo's and cd singles - alongside the uncleared LH sample the boot had the original Yazoo keyboards sample also not cleared for the Sony release. It is a much rougher mix but is all the better for it. I had a beautiful Mass Order jacket from one of the Sony reps that some swine pinched @ Southport.
  15. You must have been in the bogs Jocko
  16. The white label 'boot' was played at Bradford at least six months before Sony signed it.
  17. Chicken and the egg ay?
  18. Elliot, Dave H, Crofty ??? (can't remember), Hayley, Sharon (Top pic) Pete Shirley (Bottom right)
  19. Well spotted, I've never noticed it.
  20. They changed where the Warrington bus used to drop us off in Wigan - from the bottom of Station Rd to down past the train stations and through the bridge @ Worsley Mesnes (Mains)....which meant having to walk past TRUX, Wigans local punk club. Horrible walking past that lot with yer long leather and yer bag. Obversley, there was a fair amount of punks wandering about the Casino at the time.
  21. I think people are all involved at different levels and folk always stand behind what will get them or their preferred choices up the ladder some - a lot of banter re what you should and shouldn't like is all geared to making sure the person giving it moves up a level somewhere down the line, or, their particular nemesis is seen to, or eventually does, move down the ladder. Very few musically mature people would in reality call any related music or micro-scene irrelevant or 'shit'.
