Thanks Ste, Zanetti and Frankie. I think I'll buy both. A 3rd Edition Essential Soul Guide and an earlier secondhand Manship's. I'd love to have £75.00 to spunk on Manship's 7th Edition but I'm cheap AND I'd rather spend that amount of cash on records.

I'm trying to decide which one to buy. Or both? Any recommendations?

Just read Page 1 of this thread - I see I'm a little late... As someone else remarked - if it attracts financing it might be useful and I've plenty of time for Mr Coogan as Alan Partridge or Tony Wilson but I'm not sure that he has "serious acting" chops. I've no intention of watching "Northern Soul...On The Buses"...

I was watching "Expresso Bongo" for the first time recently. Disappointed - but for an opening shot that featured a very young Burt Kwouk. There's a tracking shot of shopfronts that includes "Club 100". Is this the 100 Club? Any ideas?

I'm in! I'm a second year Pop Music Studies undergraduate at Liverpool University and writing an essay that critiques the film, "Soulboy" . I want to try and repudiate some of the representations of northern soul dancing and culture within the film. Haven't really got a position question yet tho'!
