Plinston Main Hall Policy
On the subject of Fingers he is a quality DJ and a good friend and thus the reason why I have always had him DJ at the club. Problem is slotting him on later, like Nathan in The Ghetto!, due to guests etc etc etc. By the way, this was just meant to be a public announcement posting and all of a sudden it's a mass debate on the pros and cons of sixties vs modern. like Alison I am a lover of all styles of Soul, just so long as it's good so why not just come down, enjoy yourself (in whatever room and to whatever style you enjoy) and leave the politics for another day....ooooh get me

Steve, a stompers set would sit well with Gary Dennis, Terry J.ones, Mick Farrer, Adam, Taffy et all....as would stomping on your head, head scarf or not :-))) looking forward to welcoming you to our humble happy little family

Plinston Main Hall Policy
Hi Steve, thought it was a great way of putting it and hats off to Gavin for enlighting me. By the way, can you please keep that in mind when you DJ for us otherwise you may get hung out to dry - either here on site or at the club

Plinston Main Hall Policy
Bloody hell, you log off for a few hours and we are all at it again :-) Look, as far as I'm concerned things like Flame N King, Carstairs, Sven Zetterburg etc are 70's northern soul and therefore I'd have no problem spinning them in the Main Hall (whilst avoiding thebeer pints from VicG, Pete S etc, just joking lads!) The point is this, it's not censorship but a reaction to the emails and requests that we have recieved. The Ghetto! will still be spinning the great Modern/Crossover it always has and the Main Hall will still be pushing the latest biggies, forgotten oldies and 6T's newies it always has done. In the words of the cuddly Gavin Page, upstairs will be up and down dancing music and downstairs will be side to side dancing music.

Records That Could Never Make A Comeback
The alt. vocal came out a good while back and was played on an unissued acetate at Stafford first I think (but don't quote me on that) and then via a CD import, which I brought and still have of the sapphires greatest hits (and obviously the unissued acetate!) Great version that i spin every now and then at the Plinston to much scratching of heads

Ian, I read your request wrong and so I have had to apologise to Sam for standing behind him with my trousers down and my....I think you get the picture :-))) By the way, I see many of you have an equally sad life because it didn't take you that long to start posting here!!! Alison, I would reply to your comment but I don't want to sound patronising, tee hee.

Plinston Main Hall Policy
Have taken on board the comments made by quite a few of you, both here and via email, and have decided that the Main Hall will be, as requested, a 100% Northern Soul room, keeping the Modern upstairs. Now the fun will begin when we play something like Flame N King, Ann Sexton etc in the Main Hall To me, it's 70's Northern

Ban Them
Get Sam to check! How? This is a man who can't turn on a torch!!!!! The wonders of modern technology are such that he steers well clear of PC's etc.

Early 80,s
Oh yes, we could provide enough material for a whole series!! One of the best times was being overtaken at over 90 mph by the soul mobile of the Ampthill/Shefford crew, only to get a close-up view of the lovely Ann's arse hanging out the window of said car with her finger up it and the words 'Morecombe Or Bust' draped alongside on a banner I have photos of Boots hubby, that's the Bald pimp to you lot, that i will get around to posting here taken at Morecombe etc.

Early 80,s
My first major DJing debut and one of the great forgotten nighters. Loads of memories I could fill a book with, who remembers the Scottish crew of Wullie Mercer, Mark Linton, Stuart et all? The sunlight filling the Starlight room at the end of the night, the crush in the cafe after, the fact the pier used to move up and down with the stomping? Driving all the way up from North Herts with 6" of water flooding the datsun through the holes in the front and all the lights being replaced with 4 torches, cellotape and a prayer!!! The police waiting to turn you back at services due to the Miners strike? The Sam Cooke C/U - Moody and the Deltas, Lenny Welch's Big Apple MONSTER, the permed hair of Marc Farley? the good times and the great music? I could go on and on but will leave it at that. They really were great times and Morecombe should be recognised for keeping the scene together - along with Stafford, the 100 Club, Clifton Hall etc etc.

Last Will And Testament
I've left a few too friends and the rest will be going to Manship as he would get the best price for them and thus my kids, soon to be 4 of them!, would at least have some cash from their strange Dad with the weird plastic vinyl things :-)

What It's All About
Fingers is a top man and a true soul lover first, dealer second. This is why I have always placed him on at Plinston and he typifies the spirit of Plinston, namely great music whatever the price tag, encouraging others and up for a great laff. That said he has given me some very tasty birthday presents of a vinyl nature and or that he can ogle my wife even more :-))

Thebigo's Missus Needs Help
Saturday night a lovely lady had an amazing pair of jeans with rhinestones on them she got in Spain. She told my wife and now she wants them badly but we can't remember the info on them. If she is reading this, or someone knows her, can she please get in touch and stop my wife going out of her mind and my ears from aching!!!!!!

Soul@hitchinfc May 14 Details
Slightly smaller It's a cozy venue about the size of The Ghetto! Vic and an old stomping ground for the North Herts 6Ts Mafia. Heard it's had a refurb and wish the guys all the best for the night. It IS very hard getting any new venue off the ground and it takes time. Not worried too much about Stoke being on as we have a dedicated following anyway and of course anyone that wants too can do both as Stokes only a few hours away from the Plinston.
