  1. Another cracking double header Thelma Lindsey – Prepared To Love You / Why Weren't You There
  2. Takes me right back, another Supremes record would be Love is like an itching in my heart / He's all I got. Also on Motown, R. Dean Taylor - There's A Ghost In My House / Let's Go Somewhere.
  3. Jimmy Gresham - What a record
  4. It’s fascinating going through the thread, a proper mixed bag of quality soul. Anyone just getting into soul music, look at the posted suggestions, get on to YouTube and play them, guaranteed you’ll be hooked. Then find them, buy them and enjoy them. Some of the popular suggestions in no particular order – Darrell Banks – Open The Door To Your Heart / Our Love (Is In The Pocket) The O'Jays – Hold On / Working On Your Case John And The Weirdest – Can't Get Over These Memories / No Time Admirations/Aspirations - You left me / I want to be free Billy Hambric - She said goodbye/ I found a true love Jackie Beavers - I need my baby/ a love that never grows old Cashmeres - Showstopper /Don’t let the door Dearly Beloved /Do You Believe It - Jack Montgomery Bernard Williams – It's Needless to Say / Focused On You My Kind of Woman / You're my Mellow - Edwin Starr Show Stoppers - Ain't Nothing But A House Party / What Can A Man Do Larry Atkins - Ain't that love enough /Lighten up Ruby – Feminine Ingenuity / Deceived
  5. One of my all time favourites, awesome record.
  6. Absolutely 👍
  7. Maybe not in the same league as Jon And The Weirdest – Can't Get Over These Memories / No Time or Jackey Beavers – I Need My Baby / Love That Never Grows Old But two very good sides - Billy Kennedy – This Is A Groovy Generation / Sweet Things
  8. Both sides pure quality
  9. Definitely, great to see both Admirations/Aspirations quoted. I think Harpo (when he had his original collection) and Ted both had the rarer Aspirations. As time has gone on there maybe more? Quality and still a very sought after 45
  10. Both sides superb
  11. Tales of a recovering vinyl junkie. Years ago I was at the 100 club and there was a copy for sale and I knew it would be a long time before I saw another and had to have it. The wife was really concerned as I said if I don't sell enough records tonight to buy it I'll offer my car lol. I did get the record and didn't have to part with car lol
  12. The response has been amazing, thank you to everyone that has contributed so far, keep them coming. Soul Source has been my number one website to follow for many years. It's great to see the faith still be shared. When I started on this journey over 40 years ago there was no Internet, but everyone shared the knowledge and helped one another. It's fantastic to see that after all these years we still have Soul Source and each other. For all the younger generation and people just getting into soul music, this is a great place to be. As we would say back in the day. Keep the faith ✊ Keep em coming folks, thank you
  13. Great track, brings back great memories of the Volumes at Prestatyn, also I had a chance to purchase this from a guy visiting Richard Shaw, as some of you may remember was a record seller from Congleton many years ago. Quite often you would meet well known DJ's and record dealers in his shed at the bottom of his garden where he stored his records. It's been a strange journey at times.
  14. Thank you for sharing, I'm well thank you, hope you are too, enjoy the footie. Great choices
  15. Stood the test of time and still sounds amazing, thank you
  16. I had forgotten about the flip of the Precisions, hauntingly good tune.
  17. To futher explain, Rose Batiste I first heard in the 70's and the Magnetics 80's/90's, albeit to my knowledge both 60's tunes. Now in my early sixties, I like to look back and reflect. I'm as passionate about the music today as was when I started out, albeit a recovering vinyl junkie lol.
  18. As above the topic was approached in 2004, has time stood still since then? I regularly see records of interest on here, even after all these years I find music interesting. People taking the time to share their knowledge is always appreciated and maybe there is something out there we have overlooked?
  19. Here we are looking for 45's with two great sides, I have owned thousands of records over the past forty years but not many I would consider to be double siders. In the very early days we would flip the record over to listen to the b side, and those old enough will remember double A sides.
  20. There have been many great soul records since the sixties. What would you personally consider to be the best double sided 45? Two that immediately spring to mind from different eras are - Magnetics – Count The Days / When I'm With My Baby Rose Batiste – Hit & Run / I Miss My Baby
  21. Without doubt a great record and like so many other truly great records it was right for the time.

I know where you're coming from, these were both part of my teenage years. Both quality records that still bring back fond memories of the Casino. Growing up, my friends brother had a nice 50 box of 45's, which included Frankie Beverley, Freddie Chavez, Jerry Williams etc Great days

Sandi Sheldon – You're Gonna Make Me Love You I remember hearing this intro as teenager and immediately going up to the decks to see what it was, sounds as good now as it did then.
