Soul on TV this Friday

Friday 14th March ITV1 11.30pm SOUL (Sounds of Underground London) This week its Northern Soul time Mark Lamarr traces the development of the Northern Soul scene, which flourished in the unlikely surroundings of Wigan and was the best kept secret of the 1970s. Dave Godin recalls introducing his school friend Mick Jagger to black music and his own role in founding the eclectic Soul City, Tamla-Motown and Deep Soul labels. Those not in the ITV1 region can tune in via cable / sky. Dont ask me technical things like "how", you just can.

Plinston last Friday

Plinston gets better and better. Neil and the North Herts 6Ts Mafia put so much into this and it shows! Always friendly, always good music - something for everyone. Soul Sam - always brilliant too! With 3 rooms - no one can complain. Next one in May - if you havent been - WHY NOT?! - come and see for yourself, if you have - then see you there! KarenB :-)

plus below from big o and gang

Hi all,

A HUGE thank you to the 300+ who turned up to make the last event what almost all are agreed was the best Plinston yet! Soul Sam was fantastic, the atmosphere brill and the music spot on! The next night is set for Friday May 9th with our guests Tony Warot and Pete Hulutt joining Hammie, Fingers and TheBigO in the Main Hall, with Leon, Ab, Fingers and Dave Edwards in the R&B
Mojo Room and Soul Sam, Taffy and Nathan in The Ghetto! spinning those Modern/Crossover gems!

Another 400 sell-out is on the cards so get your
tickets early from either the box office on 01462-672003 or the lovely Jane
on 01462-731543. (Any web sites please post the details of the next night on your sites-cheers)

On 2 separate notes: We are trying to secure the smash play Once Upon A Time in Wigan for a short run at the Plinston. We are communicating with the people behind it and will keep you updated on this. Also we have a limited
run of rather groovy A3 colour posters for sale at the princely sum of £6 each for those that want to jazz up their walls. An example is below and if
interested drop us a line and we will mail you the full set of scans asa!)

Right, thats all. See you on the 9th we hope.

Keep The Faith,

Llandudno Conniseurs Weekend 2003

Both Friday and Saturday niters were great, top sessions from all djs, busy early on with numbers fading off in early hours.Lots of laughs, chat, catch up, and of course great sounds
Sounds wise, loads of stop me in my tracks, and loads more to add to the list,
Billed DJ line up was : Butch, Andy Dyson, Roger Banks, Bob Hinsley, Carl Willingham, Dave Rimmer, Chris Anderton, Derek Pearson, John Weston, Chic, Cliff Steele, Eddie Engle, Alex Jones, and Bernard.
Caught 95% of above and all did the buisness to my ears
Copped a load of great sounds upstairs bit as well, a lot of quality 70s+
Going for a chill out moment upstairs and instead being treated to Bob H doing a 6ts uptempo uproar spot,
Overall a great weekend, great sounds. a laugh and everything worked well.(With the added attraction on me doorstep)
2004 - put me down
Big thanks to promoters, these things must take a lot of effort and time, hats off
Next years dates up as soon as out

Best Night Yet @ The Plinston!

A quick line to say that last Fridays event at the Plinston was the best yet (despite numbers being down to 300 due to illness and having too good a time at the weekender the week before!!). All 3 rooms were buzzing and Soul Sam went down a storm, playing a superb set of Modern/Crossover gems in the Main Hall that saw the floor packed and then a connissuer set in the upstairs Ghetto that made the room buzz! Top man, top set!! All the DJs did a great job in getting the dance floor packed throughout with a perfect mixture of old and new to create what many have said was our best night ever. Roll on May 9th with guests Tony Warot and Pete Hulutt and all 3 rooms open again......Herts-Full of Soul! TheBigO (* I just wanted to add here my thanks to the unsung heroes of the 6Ts Mafia, those people that distribute the flyers for us up and down the country for no other reason than they wish to help and without whom the club would not be the success it is. So, pat on the back to Winston, Juliette, Lollipop Pete, Paul & Trish, Nick Brown and cow pat on the head to Kay. Cheers people, its appreciated.)

Plinston Membership

Just a quick line for the masses (or should that be massive! BO!) re: membership for the Plinston. We have had loads of mails on this point and so thought wed post the answer here to end confusion...... Membership IS optional and NOT required for entry. You can get it on the night if you wish. Wed suggest you do apply as in future lives acts, allnighters etc will be members only. So, in conclusion, you do not need to have membership before the night (March 7th.) TheBigO

As always lol in finding event, if anyone wants to know difference between Hyde Town Hall and Dunkerfield Town Hall ask us cause we now know, along with many other east manchester landmarks. Thanks to Bernadette for looking after us, and Sid and John P who made us very welcome. The Birchfield crowd were the guests on and Biff, Dave and Chris Penn dished out the sounds that wow Widnes missed out on waterhole max thingy, but as said caught some nice stuff and all kept floor busy Sid finished nite off with a tidy selection Cause of navigation skills and other things only had a short time there but it all seemed to fly past and most enjoyable Been told next one next month features amongst the guests a certain dmsc connection with a steve thomas and a mike h

Crossfire / KTF Controversy

I think I speak for most is saying that I really hoped that the muck-raking would stop after the Crossfire and Rocket events both went ahead successfully. However, although not a member personally, it would appear that the general custard pie slinging and gauntlet throwing on the KTF forum / list has reached silly levels. So... in an ADULT response to these shinanigans the Crossfire promoters have placed a notice on the 6Ts website

Weekend just gone 14/15 Feb

Bit late but word on last weekend was
Lowton Annivesary - heard numbers were a bit down, but was told the modern and R n B rooms were kicking. A well smart legal cd was the freebie

Goldbourne - Had a most enjoyable time , djs inc likes of Carl W, Steve Thomas, Kev Murphy,Terry Davis and more, some great sounds , good crowd, good time was had.

100 Club/Valatones Reports in say up to usual high standards

Anyone get up to Blackpool event and like to pass on, in fact feel free to pass on any word of any decent events!
Clashes, recently been to two events which in past few months have been subject to clashes, this time both were almost clash free and both events went really well.
Suppose theres no easy answer , and know hard to avoid but always seems a bit of a shame like when have decent same style events, competing for the same crowds.

Major Uk Events coming soon!

North Wales Coast is on a sort of soul flood alert. Up and coming are the following major events The Northern and Modern Soul Weekender at Prestatyn. Week after Llandudno Bodafon Nite sees one of the major soul events of 2003. Myself looking forward to this as last year weekend was most enjoyable! Brief Highlights Top Uk Northern and Modern DJS, awesome live acts line up, legends and current soul stars, best facilities on offer for any uk weekender, 4 main rooms, more events in Queen Vic, The best value Uk weekender, and more. Last year someone summed it up as "the overall feeling was a event for soul fans run by soul fans" you know the score. Highly recommended http://www.soul-weekenders.co.uk for latest news, sounds, info, bios and more After that weekend you mail feel that you require a month off, however seems that North Wales is set to suffer this month, just 5 days later its time to drag yourself together and crack on, and look what is on offer Llandudno Conniseurs Weekender at Ormscliffe Hotel Again to me last years one was one of the highlights of the year, the tag conniseurs says it all, quality rare soul, quality rare soul djs is what is on offer. Yet again some of the UKs top Djs hit North Wales with a whole weekend of quality sounds in a great atmosphere. Uk wide travellers turned up last year and most are returning such was their enjoyment. Again highly recommended Soul Dragon Llandudno All Niter and Dayer Ocean Lounge Conference Centre Well as a local and involved with other North Wales events think a "no comment" is best thing for me to say about the fact that this event is scheduled for the same weekend as Llandudno Conniseurs Niters have a reputation for great friendly atmosphere with its own unique feel and style. Always have had most enjoyable nites there and dayer day after is a main part of event. Details of djs etc up on the events guide
