Stax Records - New HBO TV Series In Production

A new multi part series about the rise and fall of the legendary Memphis label in in production and will show on HBO.

Founded in 1957 by Jim Stewart and his sister Estelle Axton, originally as Satellite Records and it gave us some of Soul Music's legendary performers before it went in to bankruptcy in the mid 70s.

    Long overdue! Motown also deserves a similar in-depth approach like the Ken Burns Country Music series. I was disappointed by the recent movie/documentary that promised much but delivered little.
