Kino in Manchester as part of our 20th Anniversary present KINO SUNDAY SOUL at the fabulous Nia Centre (NIAMOS) in Manchester with Manchester Northern Soul DJ's plus a special screening of the documentary "The Nine Lives of Barbara Dane" (I'm On My Way).
Six hours of dancing with Northern Soul, 60s classics, Motown and rare tunes spun by local and Manchester area DJ's, Ollie Lambert (Bolton), Debbie Bonnell, John Kino, Maxine Bellini and Bella (all from Manchester) plus special guest DJ to be confirmed.
The All-dayer starts at 2pm finishing at 10pm, Sunday 1st June. The film will be screened at 3 - 5pm. then 5 hours of dancing with local DJs spinning vinyl across the board, Northern, 60's Soul, Motown, R&B and rarely played soul. Come experience the great dance floor, a fascinating film about Barbara Dane (who passed last year) who had such a great hit on the R&B / Northern scene "I'm On MY Way".
Niamos is our own unique mini Casino with a fabulous dance floor with plenty of room for energetic dancers and a huge backdrop suitable for screening films on the big screen, and a great atmosphere - has to be seen to be believed . This venue in the heart of Hulme, Chichester Road (M15 5EU) .
Venue Info: The Nia Centre, now known as Niamos Centre, is an unfunded co-operatively run community hub and arts venue located in Hulme, Manchester. It occupies the former site of the Hulme Playhouse, a building with a rich history that has been used as a theatre, cinema, BBC recording studio, and more. The Niamos Centre was relaunched in 2018 as a community arts centre, and it now features spaces for visual arts, live music, dance nights, film screenings, a micro-bakery, and other arts and community activities. Proceeds from the event will go to the venue as part of ongoing fundraiser for the venue.
