Posted April 22, 200421 yr The 2004 season of drivin'R&B and sweet sixties soul from the FLIPside R&B Club Ted, Nashee, Joe, Horse, Lee & Mark This bank holiday weekend brings another installment of the FLIPside series of all-nighters. This time we have "The roots of Funk" in room 2, with NYC's (USA)Subway soul club resident KYM FULLER taking the lead, she is also a promoter at www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk (take a look at some of their releases ....nice). In the main room we have some of the greatest exponents of the drivin' newbreed R&B FLIPside is now famous for, headlining this month is MACE, well known to us all from nighters all over the UK for the last 10 years or so. We did have the ever popular CIRO, but due to a rather nasty crash whilst racing his lambretta last weekend has broken his arm and fingers whilst at the same fracturing his leg, so he's going to be out of action for some months to come, he sends his regrets as he was really looking forward to playing in the main room after his storming set in the specialist room in his last appearance at FLIPside. In place of CIRO we have the ever popular DUDLEY STEVE, who (as any ebayer will know) has been spending a lot of late increasing his collection ready to take on the role of a FLIPside headline DJ. Steve has played a couple of times for us in both rooms and never fails to impress us as collectors, promoters and general clubbers. Steve is quickly becoming one of my favourite DJ's and will definately fill the floor with every track. Remember if you're out over the Bank holiday weekend, and your club closes to early, make a weekend of it and come over to FLIPside later on, the music never looses tempo and we do hold some of the biggest plays till late so we can keep the energy up all night. We never close the doors and we play on to at least 7am (some nights we can be still be playing at 9am ready for breakfast (which is served from around 5:30 - 6am). Directions can be found at www.flipsideclub.co.uk/directions.htm Those at Scarborough over the weekend, take the A64 back to York, head south and pick up the M1 (follow the directions on the website after that). click on the maps to enlarge, rick click and "save as" to download and print at home.
