Posted November 8, 201014 yr hi!, could anyone talk about the frank cherval issues? including label pics, please. is this the first issue? and what's about the dj issue (ref K-13095)? sorry, no pic. thanks in advance!
November 11, 201014 yr I'm convinced this is the original version of "How Come". The US DJ copy has a handwritten date of September 1962, which is just over a year before Tony Williams' version on Philips (not sure about Byrdie Green on End though). Nice version, though IMO the Tony Williams version is far superior and more soulful.
November 12, 201014 yr not sure about Byrdie Green on End though Also 1962 for this one. Also agree that Tony Williams is the best version.
November 22, 201014 yr Don't think either versions compare to Birdie Green, plus you get the added bonus of the excellent tremblin' on the b-side

Think the Frank Cherval is 'orrible to be honest Vocals are far too twee and teeny. I remember Nige Shaw trying to palm one off to me at Hednesford, many moons ago. Didn't have a player with us at the time, and he told me it was a great version. Needless to say it went straight back to him the following week Edited November 22, 201014 yr by Mace
