I've always considered this early pressing to be a re-release error. Whoever pressed it obviously had access to some original tapes, and used a different take, so it could be considered a legitimate issue on that basis. I remember being horrified when I bought it as a 15 year old, when there was no school bell at the start, and began the search to find a 'real' one.

It would be interesting to know who put the alternate take out, it could well have been Doc Kyle, since there could have only been 3-4 years between the original release and the alternate take release. I also have the much later pressing with the instrumental track on the flip, which according to a label listing had a release number credited to Doc Kyle Orchestra, though I've never seen or heard of a real one.

I was told that it is a early 70's recut, but is a proper release. It used the original take of Isn't She A Pretty Girl" on the flip.

I too was very disappointed in the 70's when I bought it and realized it was a poor imitation of the classic original take!

It's the audio quality thats p*ss poor, but i think it's better quality backing vocals.
