Smiths Guitarist Discovers Northern Soul Shock

in the 'Best thing I've Heard all Year' lookback in this months Mojo, Johnny Marr reckons he's been going to a few Northern allnighters - The Palace in Manchester and a 'couple of good ones' at the Blackpool Winter Gardens where he heard the Contours 'Just A Little Misunderstanding'. it's all about the 'energy and feeling' apparently :yes:

Not played it yet but the the cover cd is a specially commissioned CD cover of the Stones 'Sticky Fingers' album by Soul artists including Daptone artists sharon Jones and the likes of Lee Fields.

and finally a good mention for Dave Rimmers's 'Soulful Kinda Music' web site in the 'Surf's Up' column.
