With UK releases are the first pressings always the ones with solid centres (for duke box?) and the ones with the centres held in second presses (which usually includes demos)?

Does this equate to first and second issues or are they considered to be one and the same?

Any thoughts

I don't get what you mean Bob. How can a demo be a second press?

That's one of the points I was trying to clarify. It's because I have seen records listed, on Stateside for instance, stating first press, and having a solid centre, aren't most demo's usually push out type centres.

EMI distributed label ones usually are, but Pye label ones, more are solid than push out.

Besides, Stateside 1st press - all Stateside records are 1st presses with the exception of Our Love Is In The Pocket and a couple of others. No demand to do a second run.

I just posted a similar question in "look in ya box" regarding Shirley Ellis - Soul Time. Which one is the original, or are they both original?? Just can't understand why one is a solid middle and the other is a 4 prong centre???

Feel a fool posting it on there, when I should have read this forum first. To be honest, I wasn't expecting a similar question to be asked the same day. Doh!!

Thanks for that Pete, thinking about it, Cameo Parkway (Pye distrbuted) are all solid centres aren't they.

Suppose it was me reading too much into nothing, anyway.
