:hatsoff2: HI ALL Some of you who collect UK RELEASES may also included UK covers of MOTOWN SONGS in the collection, some good ones and indeed some bad ones,

A few years ago PETE SMITH listed quite a few in his excellent mag BEATIN RYTHEM, well worth a read, as there has never been anything that comes close to it,

I have just been up the loft, and found a 1967 LP by Jackie Trent "once more with feeling" it contains no Northern big records, and has the frustrating "baby your putt-in me on" which is up-temp with to many slow breaks that ruin it, but the LP has the best female version of the 4 Tops "reach out, I'll be there"

well danceable. however, is there a 45 of this track?? DAVE

Yeah I remember doing that article, it was in 1988 I think, I really did a lot of research though (there was no internet) and came up with stuff that people didn't really know back then (Cyan Three, Ray French, that sort of thing), I reckon even now there are only a handful of releases missing. I think I might have that LP as well Dave (though I often get my Jackies and Petulas mixed up, and I also think Petula did Reach Out on an LP) but as far as I know there is no single of it by JT.

Oh and talking about Jackie Trent doing Motown covers - what about the earliest, her version of The One Who Really Loves You recorded for Oriole circa 1963. This version is brilliant and super rare, I've had one copy ever, a demo, sold that in 1992 not had a sniff of one since.
