August 2, 201212 yr Johnny Roadhouse was a Manchester legend, died April 2009 aged 88. A saxophonist with swing and dance bands. The shop opened in 1955 on Oxford Road and is still run by his son . Generations of manchester bands were supplied by the store from the early beat boom to the likes Oasis. As for a soul connection, it is limited. There are a couple of mentions in Central 1179. I used to pop in in the early 70s to look through second hand records . It probably would be the place to visit for any band performing at the Wheel or in the city, who needed equipment, repairs etc. It is a indication of the respect in which he was held that national newspapers like the Daily Telegraph and Independent published obituaries.

Thanks for that so the shop is still there managed by his son.I've had the turntable for a few years now and often wondered about the label on its front, sorry for my ignorance about the Manchester scene I'm a Donny lad.
August 2, 201212 yr Donny lads are the most soulful guys on the planet, so you don't need to be sorry for owt. Mind you, in my day, Sheffield & Manc were 2nd homes for Donny soulboys.
August 2, 201212 yr Johnny Roadhouse was born in Sheffield but the family moved to Manchester when he was a child.
