Hi all!

At Saturday night,i went to a 5hour soul dj set and the guy who presented his records played some real diamonds from his 20.000 record collection.

this person was giving some info on records playing but though i noted down some nice gemms,i need your help to id some.

1) First one I am looking for,is a woman performer,lyrics(maybe refrain) is I m talking about freedom (its not Syl Johnson)

and the most characteristic clue of it is that the guy who played it told us,that the writer of this song is Davie Bowie!

Should be late 70s.

2) Second one has maybe as title Sleeping in the darkness,male performer,but what is important is that the same people (not necessarily under the same band name) released an other song,maybe under the name Albert?or Alfred at 1977, which is more in psychedelic soul style.

so i am looking for both tracks here:)

so i am looking for 3 songs in total,

excuse the few clues but i cannot recall any more(i had a couple of drinks i must admit:)))

but i liked them so much and i am asking your assistance.

maybe they ring a bell to someone!

I think the first one is probably the Fontella Bass cut "Talking About Freedom". She was married to Lester Bowie and his brother Byron Bowie wrote the song. No Daves in there as far as I can see

could the second one you asked about be a track of the lp entitled"the albert" ? a psychodelic type soul album ? theres tracks from it on youtube,one life prob being the favourite of soul fans,just a thought,good luck in your search

Now for the second...This must be the Albert Lp,but i ve got to check the songs on it.The one i hunt from Albert lp was instrumental.Some of the guys played on the Albert lp,participated under another group name in a song (more soul style than the psychedelic Albert lp) called something like Sleeping in the darkness.

thats what i hunt to find now.
