Your Missing Mail

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Not sure if this has been posted ( no pun intended ) ,or if its in the right section ,but for anyone who buys or sells records ,there is a MUST WATCH programme on TV tomorrow night !

Dispatches 8pm Ch 4 - The secrets of your missing Mail

I've seen the trailor and it shows just how well the guys at the parcel office really treat your parcels !

It makes those guys who put your suit cases on the planes look like child minders lol

That was only the sorting office clip ,so I await with peril at what else is gonna be revealed ..Gulp !

Isn't the programme more about private mail companies and an insight into the sort of service we can expect when Royal Mail starts privatising

Hardly surprising....

Lost count the number of Birthday/Christmas cards we've had in recent years that have turned up in that plastic bag having already been opened.....

Well that was a real eye opener and frankly disgraceful behaviour by UKMAIL staff !

I think in future I will refrain from putting fragile on my packages as it seems to be a red rag to a bull :(

I've already started doing that, instead I've gone for thicker mailers, still with 3 pieces of card, or cruciform mailers, though I can't get those cheap enough.  Am putting my registereds as above, and then inside a jiffy bag mailer.

I've been in the parcel trade for years and to say that only UK mail staff are like this is a bit nieve.

Night sorters and loaders consider themselves untouchable based on nobody else would do there jobs, they don't have to face a customer with a box of glasses that sounds like a baby's rattle when it moves or with that 6 foot priceless lampshade in two 3' pieces. I go to my lorry each morning and it looks like it's been loaded by bulldozer sooner than by hand. Complain and you get it worse the next day.

Every company is the same no matter what your told, The only answer is to pack your stuff like you know it's going to get thrown around. your parcel is only one of thousands those guys are going to handle through the night, they don't care and the ones that do don't last, cause it's a shit job done by guys with more work than most can handle and paid crap money.

I've gave up trying to explain to customers to pack their goods properly, they believe the reps who tell them their parcel will be handled on a fluffy cushion, passed from one carefully trained handler to the next till it's presented to the recipient by a kneeling delivery guy holding it aloft, the truth is it will be thrown in and out of a lorry several times and on and of a conveyor belt or two with the reps praying all night that it arrives in one piece hopefully at the right address and the next day.

PACK YOUR PARCELS PROPERLY AND WHATEVER IT IS IT'LL GET THERE ALRIGHT mostly :)
