Hi Has anyne else heard of this as its a new one to me.

Sold a record as Ex (Probably Mint minus) Buyer says it has white scratches which causes a distortion on the vocals!

 

AS I said New one to me!

Anyone else come across this?

Should have said - Its a styrene record! (Not expensive !)

Sounds like cue-burn marks Ernie

I played it on my system with no distortion but that means nothing - Didnt see any marks on the vynil at all and took photos before I sold it- Absolute clean labels as well. Im just a bit surprised but I have had a record play differently than on my system. so I wil wait till it arrives back.

^{I find a lot of my 60's mono records play with distortion with my stereo cartridge/needle, even m - copies. Maybe that's the problem.}

it's not unusual for styrene records to play differently with different types of carts (e.g. conical vs. spherical or mono vs. stereo) as the needles ride differently in the grooves. In one case the needle might be hitting a damaged part of the groove but not in another.
