Aint Nothin Like The Real Thing

Just had the pleasure of seeing two of the Motown Greats in Washington DC on the same bill. Think it was the last night of Smokey Robinson and Gladys Knight "Aint nothin like the real thing" tour.

Pure quality. opening with a spine tingling duo of the Marvin & Tammi classic. Then 75 minutes of all of Gladys hits and 75 minutes of Smokey finishing with Cruisin and 2000 old American soulies (and two Brits) singing the place down.

They might be getting on a bit, but the true greats never lose it - hope they bring the tour over here.

I am glad that Gladys did OK. We (about a dozen from the LA soul week gig) saw her in Vegas in March, and almost asked for our money back. Shame as she is my fave all time soulstress.
