I recently found a mint copy of Barbara St. Clair's Teacherman 45 and I must say, I like the flip (Jeckyll and Hyde) better. I'm also not a big modern soul/crossover fan but it's definitely a cool, nice feel good sounding track. Plus, I live close to the area in Buffalo, NY. It was recorded in Clarence, NY, about 15 minutes away. This label, from my knowledge was more famous for Spyro Gyra, another Buffalo, NY product (jazz-fusion).

Anyone else with any other background on this track and/or artist? Not much on the web, other than the record commands a good chunk of change.

if you search Facebook Barbara St Clair and the shadows thats her and features live video performing in the 90's (I think). She died of a brain tumour but certainly you should be able to FB the band members as I assume R. Davis is the same one who wrote Teacherman.

I was told the musicians were Spyro Gyra, they tried to pull the 45 before a U.k. dealer got hold of all the copies  :wicked:  :shhh: . Great double sider.

Thank you both! Both very interesting pieces of information. Cool to hear some of the lesser known stories about these popular, yet mostly unknown artists and tracks.
