November 7, 20159 yr watch it from 32 mins in, its about Tainted Love. Gloria Jones's account of how it got be played is hilarious IMHO. Apparently a sailor in Liverpool gave to a young kid for a cigarette and the kid to it to the northern scene and the rest is history.... No mention of Richard Sealing finding it in USA and making it a big sound in Va Va's ! Interesting documentary and worth a watch to remind you of how many British pop acts were singer cover versions. Strangely, there is no mention of Lulu "Shout" https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06n9q8y/better-than-the-original-the-joy-of-the-cover-version
November 7, 20159 yr Cant believe it when some woman said the soft cell version sounds more original than Gloria Jones version
