Matt & Robert – Run For Cover/ Pride and Joy (Jarval J-V 0001) Ex £200

This is the first release on the obscure Southern label Jarval. ‘Run for Cover’ is hard edged Northern. ‘Pride and Joy’ is a great cover of the Marvin Gaye classic. Extremely rare. Copies have reached £540.

Sy Risby, Chuck Flintroy & the Night Train – Hope We Have /Ain’t Love Wonderful (6th Avenue AV-601) £90

An impossibly rare release on the obscure Canadian 6th Avenue label. Top double sider. ‘Hope We Have’ is a great cover of The Chi-lites classic and ‘Ain’t Love Wonderful’ is fantastic crossover.  This has went for up to £170.

Bobbby Paris – Per-so-nal-ly/ Tradegy (Tetragrammaton 1504) EX £25

The big voiced Wigan classic that still packs a punch

Bettye Swann – (My Heart Is) Closed For the Season / Don’t Touch Me (Capitol 2382) EX £15

A great moody mid paced Northern that could definitely go.

The Exceptionals – Unlucky Girl /What About Me  (GRT 48) EX £35

Sublime female crossover on the tiny Canadian GRT label and in original company sleeve. This is a record that’s really starting to do and changing hands for around £50 now.

The Artistic – This Heart of Mine / I’ll come Runnng (Okeh) VG £20

Still one of my favourite 45s on Okeh, and moving on a double. Like my copy, it looks rough but plays great - hence the price.

Joe Hicks  - Don’t It Make You Feel Funky / Soul Meeting (AGC 001) EX £20

A massive 70’s Northern spin, and still a very powerful hard driving record. I'm sure this is the 70's pressing and not the original American issue.

Dusty Springfield – What’s It Gonna Be (Phillips) EX £10

The first lady of British 60’s pop knocks out a brilliant version of this track

Washington Smith – Fat Cat (Okeh) EX £20

A rare white demo of this new breed R&B winner

Darrell Banks – Open the Door To Your Heart/ Our Love (Is in the Pocket) (Stateside) VG £15

One of the most influential records in creating a the Northern Soul scene. This is a UK issue which looks rough but plays great, so hence the price which is more than half it’s record collector value. Money back guarantee.

Bob Brady & the Con Chords – Love is the Master (I’m the Slave/ It’s Love) (Chariot) EX 10

Great double sider of the early Northern scene

Betty Barnes – Walking Down Broadway (RCA Victor) EX £10

Marvin Gaye – Ain’t That Peculiar / She’s GOT To Be Real (TMG 539) VG++ £10

Marvin perfection on the UK TMG series

Lynn Conner – Laughing At Me (Monument) £20

A big popcorn tune and really is a great record. If you don’t know it – please check it out.  Original company sleeve.
