Posted October 20, 200618 yr Just noticed a copy of Carmelita "Isn't it lonely" (CARMEN) on eBay with YELLOW label as opposed to the multi-coloured one. It says in the description that it's on vinyl unlike the other one, but that's not true. They're both on vinyl. So, what's the story? Was it pressed twice? October 20, 200618 yr -->QUOTE(C.B @ Oct 20 2006, 12:01 AM) link Just noticed a copy of Carmelita "Isn't it lonely" (CARMEN) on eBay with YELLOW label as opposed to the multi-coloured one. The yellow is the very first, and is VERY rare (100 pressed); Most were sent (a dozen or two?) to Florida in 1974 (Carmelita performed on local TV there) because she (and husband/producer Jerry Pittman) knew George Mc Crae. He was trying to help promote it. This is where this seller (ebay longtallsimon) found it. Carmelita is a visual artist; Weeks later, she created the nice pink label artwork (check Manships rarest of the rare), and pressed the balance of copies with that instead (300 copies). There are 4 confirmed yellow labels that are known to have survived; I bought 2 from Carmelita and Jerry for a LOT of money (she still owns her last one), and now this ebay copy has surfaced.. The last 2 pink labels sold got $2300 and $1900; There are a little over a dozen of those that have been found, now in my possession. Yellow label value? Put it this way, I will NOT sell my spare for a long time; It has nowhere to go but to a very high demand as time goes on...
October 20, 200618 yr Thanks for the info! Do you have a picture of Carmelita? If so, I would love to see it. Best, Christian Edited October 20, 200618 yr by cC B

ATB, Mike Notice the butterfly pin (like her record label artwork..)! She has been a school teacher for a while now (She kinda has the look..). BTW She cut a record called "The Rapping Schoolteacher" 20 years ago, I've still yet to hear it. I saw 70's photos of her and Jerry (husband/producer), very hip couple back then; I asked for photos from back in the day, and they gave me this recent one......
February 19, 200817 yr Just looking through some old topics and I came across this one on Carmelita and Jerry 'Pines' Pittman. It occurred to me that this man has to be one of the great 'unknown' producers. We often speak about unheralded artists, but the obscure people on the other side of the mixing desk seldom get a mention. Everything I've ever heard this guy produce has been simply phenomenal. The craft, invention and skill in the production work on the Carmelita and Sy Hightower material is truly wonderful. If ever a collection of creative people deserved a break it was these people. It's crazy that the records they were involved in are so good yet so hard to buy.
February 21, 200817 yr Just for information, I picked up a Yellow label copy on Ebay about 6 months ago in the Latin section in mint condition. Worth looking around the odd one does surface. Mark
