Bits and Bobs

Here’s a list of some bits and bobs that I’m looking to move on!

Sorry there’s no label scans or sound files at this point, but I am out and about today, Wednesday and Thursday so I am only likely to get time to upload or provide as and when I get opportunities in-between.  Bear with me on this please!

Where 45s are for offers, full details will follow regarding deadline and how it will run.

All messages will be dealt with in order of receipt.

Chester St. Anthony – Together – A&M 766 WDJ M- £150

(Lovely mid-tempo, 2 x on label)

Chick Carlton – Your love keeps haunting me / What price must I pay – Arla 711 M- £800 SOLD

(Obscure label release belies how brilliant this double sider is, very rare and even more so in this condition)

Johnny Wyatt – This thing called love – Bronco 2052 M- £150 SOLD

(One of the best adverts for a northern dancer I have ever heard…. simples)

Terry Callier – I just can’t help myself – Cadet 5697 WDJ M- £125

(What an artist, virtually everything he did is so collectable, regardless of what decade too)

Main Attraction – I’ve got love for my baby – Cindy 001 M- £350

(Great double sider out of Flint, Michigan, raw group soul and a real hidden gem)

James Bounty – Prove yourself a lady – Compass 7055 WDJ M- £350

(Stamped original of this old stomper)

Rhonda Davis – Can you remember – Duke 473 DJ M- £350 SOLD

(This does have an edge warp, but it plays fine without a stabiliser although it would benefit from one.  Take that away and it’s an immaculate copy, and cheaper than most I see for sale recently)

Brand New – Thousand years – Du-Vern 4176 Ex+ £750 SOLD

(Stunning, stunning, stunning 70s! Radio Station stamp on both labels)

Flirtations – Stronger than her love – Festival 705 WDJ Ex+ £700

(Original West Coast demo picked up off Darren Brown a couple of months ago, but a coloured DJ copy just arrived that must take its place.  Date on label)

Dena Barnes – If you ever walk out of my life – Inferno 2020 WDJ M- £750 SOLD

(Lush)

E. (Edward) Williams – Trade my soul with the devil – Jaa Dee 505 M- OFFERS

(A super rarity that resides in select company on only a few top DJs play lists! Condition and rarity don’t always come in equal measure, and normally we forsake one for the other, but not here as all the right things are in one place, tune, condition and noteriety!  Min £3000)

Connie Austin – She made a mistake / Ball of fire – King 6154 YDJ M- £400 HOLD

(Powerhouse R&B tinged femme 2 sider.)

Gene McDaniels – Walk with a winner – Liberty DJ Ex £150 SOLD

(Atmospheric big voiced oldie, and thats just Gene!)

Sammy King – Ain’t that satisfaction – Mar-A-thon 104 DJ M- £300 SOLD

(His double sider “Standby” and Moody”  on the same label is nice enough, but this obscure semi-known is a pure class R&B egded bar tune, get this round your Nola and eat it)

Belles – Don’t pretend – Mirwood 5505 WDJ Ex £175 HOLD

(How often does a white demo pop up? stock copies selling for one and half. x on label)

Sister’s “3” – Keep off no trespassing – Mustang 101 M- OFFERS

(How rare is this up tempo West Coast version of the Marvelettes track?  Good flip too.  By my reckoning the delta number puts this before the Motown release, how does that happen if its potentially a cover?  Reportedly rarer but I understand not necessarily more appealing than the Inciters on Baby-Luv of which Mustang is a tiny subsidiary.  Maybe Mustang was for established Motown girl groups to moonlight on? X on label. Min £500)

Jimmy Mack – My world is on fire / Go on – Palmer 5019 DJ M- £1500 HOLD

(Plumb condition on this massively popular double sider, pure Detroit class, from label design to production)

Bobby Hutton – Come see what’s left of me – Phillips 40601 WDJ M- £250

(Lovely promo, gorgeous track)

Trade Martin – Work song – RCA 8926 M- £150 SOLD

(Stock copy!  Light wear to a small section of label)

Fantastic Four – I can’t stop looking for my baby – Ric Tic 121 Ex+ DJ £300 SOLD

(Multicoloured DJ credits copy, even though its relatively common on stock, the DJ is a shockingly hard to find collectors piece)

James Dockery – My faith in you is all gone – Soul-Craft 1 Ex- £450 SOLD

(Original 60’s red label release, a few marks dotted around, but they are light, and it plays great with very little feedback)

Sheepherders – If ever you need me – Sounds International 638 Ex £1250

(Virginian Northern at its very best, featuring the irrepressible Bubba Bailey, who? Bubba Bailey. A few marks but plays through great, again with minimal feedback)

Johnny Starr – Dark skie – Stag 0001 M- £1100 HOLD

(Sublime Detroit mid-tempo, from what I understand a very rare and desirable 45, the handful I have seen have been much lesser condition.  2 x on label to signify play side versus instrumental flip)

Mill Evans – When I’m ready – Tou-Sea 128 WDJ M- £150

(Infectious 60s dancer, just superb)
