Hi and welcome to the first K-Mart list of the decade. No January list because of travelling makes up for a real meaty one this time around. A real nice and varied one too. Everything from early 60s soul, northern soul, ballads and crossover to modern, two step, latin soul to a section of brazilian soul/funk/jazz albums.

Sweet/Group soul – Masters of Soul (“Lovely little Lassie”), New Born Lite, Gloria & Relations, Lady Margo, Pacesetters (“What about me, baby”), Calif. Malibus and forementioned Van Jones album.
Latin soul – just a couple both all rare and great. 45’s from Chollo Riviera and Sunny & Sunlighters (“The one who’s hurtin’ is you”). Albums by Frankie Nieves and Joe Acosta.
Brazilian albums – all classic titles from classic artists as Emilio Santiago, Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben etc
To top it off there’s also a small section of nice and soulful reggae 45’s
And for all of my precious UK customers: Well Brexit finally did happen, the trade agreement however will not change until 2021. To what we will have to see but until then it’s business as usual, no customs duty etc. And for all you others outside the European Union I will of course help to write down values etc.

Vaneese & Carolyn – I’m losing you – Polydor / EX / £25 (Their lesser known 45 and a very nice mellow ballad. Small label life on “I’m losing you” side.)
David Oliver – Summer love / I remember you when – Mercury / EX / £5 (Two great, smooth sides. Flipside has a bit label lift around edges plus date written on it.)
Cortez – Girl I been watching you – Tezru / EX / £10 (Classic modern that took a little more than inspiration from Arnold Blairs “Trying to get next to you”. White paper/green text label variation.)
Batteaux – Tell her she’s lovely – Columbia / EX / £10 (White demo of this lovely tune. One that been described as free soul, blue eyed soul, folk soul and two step.)
Contemplations – Alone with no love / Instrumental – Dontee / VG / £300 (First press of this classic dancer re-released as Rock Candy a couple of years later. Record has light marks but plays well.)
Wilson Williams – I can’t get used to losing you – How Big / VG+ / £150 (Superb crossover slowie, such soulful stuff! Flip is gritty midtempo. Vinyl has scuffs but plays clean.)
Ebonies feat. Roy Williams – You got what I want / I’m not asking for much – Midwest / EX / £150 (Very clean copy of this storming group harmony dancer that was played at Stafford. Flip is a nice slowie.)
Bobby Taylor – There are roses somewhere in this world – Sunflower / VG+ / £125 (White demo of this classic 70s NS spin. Record has hairline, not a crack just material imperfection which is common on styrene 45’s.)
Sag War Fare – Don’t be so jive / Girl! You better change – Libra / EX / £120 (Likely the best crossover soul double header around. The 2012 Numero reissue with lookalike labels that is very sought after and only released in a box set.)
Gladys Knight & the Pips – Stop and get a hold of myself / Who knows – Maxx / VG+ / £90 (Killer double header, two great early sides from Gladys and her Pips. A-side is a clean EX but “Who knows” side has an audible scuff towards the end of the track.)
Lost Generation – You only get out of love / Pretty little angel eyes – Brunswick / EX / £70 (White demo of this superb double header. Dancer with a rare groove feel backed with crossover and same song as Jackie Wilson.)
Rhetta Hughes – I can’t stand it under this pressure / You’re doing it with her – Tetragrammaton / VG+ / £45 (Killer crossover backed with a slightly funky dancer which reminds me of Dee Edwards “Why can’t there be love”.).
Impressions – We must be in love / Inner city blues – Buddah / EX / £25 (Cool looking Jamaican press. Two superb classic sides and one that is also quite rare on Usa issue.)
Barbara Hall – You brought it on yourself / Drop my heart off at the door – EMI / VG / £25 (UK copy of this classic Sam Dees penned double header. Vinyl has no scratches but a dull look from a reaction to, likely, PVC. Plays with light background noise)
Mary Wells – Dear lover – Atco / EX / £20 (Lovely early midtempo soul pearl with a Motown styled uptempo flip. Writing on label, “10” with red felt pen.)
Martha & The Vandellas – My baby loves me – Gordy / EX / £6 (Superb midtempo with a more indie Detroit sound than typical Motown. Label has drill hole.)
Sunny & the Sunliners – The one who’s hurtin’ is you – Key-Loc / EX / £250 (Killer texmex soul that is very hard to find especially in clean condition like this one.)
New Born Lite – You sure did mean a lot – Soul Sauce / VG- / £250 (Just awesome, and super rare group harmony. Same label as Egyptians “Thanks to you”. Rough looking copy but decent player, check the clip taken from the copy for sale. Small tear on label.)
Pacesetters – What about me, baby / I’m gonna make it / EX / £200 (Killer double header, midtempo group soul backed with NS dancer. Styrene press which isn’t the best but stll quite ok.)
Calif. Malibus – I stand alone / Love in my life – M&M / EX / £175 (The beautiful theme song for the ugly bare knuckle Fellony Fights! Nice clean copy of this amazing Cali sweet soul classic. Flip is a nice modern dancer that got spins in the UK in 80’s/90’s.)
Masters of Soul – Lovely little Lassie – Duke / EX / £125 (Just amazing group harmony, these guys really were the masters of soul. White promo copy, vinyl.)
Chollo Rivera & Latin Soul Drives – I could never hurt you girl – Cotique / EX / £125 (Superb latin soul slowie. Hard one to find in this clean condition.)
Ambassadors – I really love you / I can’t believe that you love me – Arctic / EX / £75 (Fantastic group soul slowie, classic group and classic label. Flip is faster and also great. Vinyl is clean but label has a touch of light ring wear.)
Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr – You can’t blame me / Your love keeps drawing me closer – Capsoul / EX / £70 (Simply fantastic double header that getting harder and harder to pick up. Discreet stain on label.)
Sir Ted Ford – Right now / I can’t give you up – Diggin’ Deep / EX / £45 (Two nice slowies. One previous unissued side and one previously released one. Fourth release on this Franklin Mint styled limited edition/instant collectors item label. )
Sam Dees – What’s it gonna be / Tag tag – Diggin’ Deep / EX / £45 (Two great sides that never got a release by the time of the recordings. Shortened down 45 edit of the “Show must go on” album track, backed with Sams own version of the Bill Brandon tune. The later was on a Kent boot 45 and the Kent CD “Second to none” before here. )
Sam Dees – Tag tag tag / Your love is like a boomerang – Kent / EX / £15 (Two previously unissued sides off the “Second to none” cd first time on vinyl, unofficial vinyl. Sams own versions of the Bill Brandon and Corey Blake songs.)
Clarendonians – Walking up a one way street – Dragon / EX / £60 (UK original, superb cover of the Willie Tee classic. Reversed labels with pen corrections, and name written on centre of the side with plays the instrumental.)

Loveman Ronnie Stokes – Touch you again – Philly City / EX/VG / £180 (Powerful dancer with never letting down hi-hats. Custom sleeve is intact but stained.)
Lou Ragland & G.L.O. – Love moods – Casino / EX / £125 (With the superb “Making love”. Original EP with sharp label colors. Label has dedication and is signed by Lou Ragland.)
California Playboys – Trying to become a millionaire – Loadstone / EX/EX / £600 (1976 album filled with modern soul goodies. Solid album with no 45 cuts and standouts in “She’s a real good woman” and “Just say a four letter word”. Very nice and clean copy!)
Van Jones – Time has made me new – Impulse / EX/EX / £450 (Nice very clean copy of this classic rare album title. Musically a mixture between disco and sweet soul, highlights in “Let’s go this go” and “Time has made me new”.)
Rocket – s/t – RFC / EX/EX / £100 (Classic disco title heaving with disco goodies. EX but spot mark on “Here comes my love” that causes 4/5 light clicks. Cover with hype sticker and partially in shrink.)
Frankie Nieves – The terrible… – Speed / EX/EX / £60 (With his great latin soul version of Appreciations “It’s better to cry”. As new mono copy still in shrink wrap.)

Serginho Meriti – Bons momentos – Polydor / VG/VG / £90 (Solid brazilian funk/soul album with a lisp. With the classic “Memorias de um neguinho poeta/Neguinho poeta” + “Bons momentos”, ”Tipo help” and more. Both LP and cover just short of VG+, decent player/looker. Label on side 2 has small tear.)
Tim Maia – s/t – Polydor / VG+/VG+ / £60 (Soulful 1980 album which is pretty much solid listening throughout. Record looks a clean EX but pressing is a bit noisy. Cover just shy of EX.)
