Two pressing variants involving two different plants. With the more "common" blue Dan-Dy 100 variant typical Chicago label with 'brute & bold' font typo and the "rarer" New-York green Dan-Dy 100 label pressing with the Shelby stamped matrix. Is the later green label variant contemporary to the blue label variant (1966) or not ?
I know of the only other release on the label Dan-Dy 101 of Willie Weems & the Palmadores on the green label New-York press variant. But not on the blue label Chicago press variant. That could indicate a continuity attempt on the green New-York but that doesn't still mean a 'contemporary' (1966) pressing to the blue Dan-Dy 100.
Am asking as I now also have a green pressing in hand and am surprised by the rather soft plastic used (very bendable), beveled edge of the vinyl border's, thin tight groove, a thin paper pressed molded label bearing at least 4 different typos. All remeniscent of seventies pressings. But not 1966 pressings IME. Be it a small NY label.
Would anyone know better for fact ? Was the Shelby pressing plant still running in the seventies? FWIW the masterings are different. The green label variant is evidently 'clearer'. That is the result of prominent high frequencies that on the blue label variant is evidently lacking (intentionally I believe). But resulting in more HF distortions.
