Just got back from a break in Salou. While I was there I thought I'd look to see if a bar I was last in 20 years ago was still there and lo and behold it is. Sadly it's closed now. Does anybody have any info about when it closed or why?  Covid and/or Brexit I suppose are obvious reasons, but if anyone has any other info I'd be interested to hear.

I went the happy drinker in 2006. And then was looking forward to revisiting when I went Salou in 2017. Alas it was closed then so couldn't be down to COVID. If I remember rightly the owners of the Happy Drinker also own the Red Lion and put all their eggs in that basket by doing a big Refurb on it. Could be the reason it closed. Also Could be completely wrong here btw as I spent most of that trip looking through a pint glass. 😁

Been stood closed a few years then! Went in Red Lion, no reference to NS there.

Such a shame. These outposts are so important to cater for the 50 to 80 year old...soulies!

Remember manhattans in Tenerife...buzzing for years, then scarpered!

First time I went into 'The Happy Drinker' was because ( family was just passing and saw) it advertised a soul & motown quiz. Later the owner (I think) showed me a copy of Joe Frazier - First Round Knockout he'd just got thru the post. Didn't realise at the time but I on reflection pretty sure it was a boot 😀. Enjoyed a few nights in there and met a 'mod' (can't remember his name) from Barcelona who (despite the language barrier - my Spanish not anywhere as good as his English) I enjoyed talking with. Happy Days on holiday.
