Gene Yarbrough - The Meeting Place part 1 & 2 (Jerma) Mint £35
Right, managed to secure a small number of store stock copies of this from a contact in US after I was inundated with enquiries when I listed one a few weeks ago, I’m down the LAST TWO COPIES already! My personal favourite of those listed, this seems virtually unknown and whilst part 1 has a couple of YouTube entries, the far better part 2 has only recently been added courtesy of @BarrieWaddington aka @A45Heaven (who’s no bad judge of a 45 given he was responsible for discovering many of Stafford’s finest plays and plenty more before and after). A killer 45 IMHO and not easy to find, probably be three figures if someone starts playing it (and given the names of those that have acquired a copy from me that is going to be very very soon!)
Peggy Gaines - Sweet Way Of Living/Just To Satisfy My Baby (Ref-O-Ree) Mint- £50
A Tennessee Ted Jarrett production and cracking slab of southern crossover that has plenty of legs left in it. The flip though (for me anyway) is the real deal here an under the radar lowrider with potential for a big big future. Still cheap but for how long?
Ultimations - Without You/Would I Do It Over (Mar-V-Lus) Mint- £50
One that has leaped in value in recent times thanks to demand for the gorgeous sweet group harmony side. Flip it for mid tempo Stafford heaven, still woefully underplayed. Seen at £80 and rising, gorgeous copy!
