Reports coming from the States say that G.C Cameron has left The Temptations after four years with the group.

Joining in spring 2003 G.C Cameron replaced Barrington 'Bo' Henderson he came to the group at a particular time of upheavel with long term bass singer Harry McGilberry JR also leaving.

G.C's first album with The Tempts was Legacy, singing lead or joint lead on numerous songs from the album including the Nu Soul favourites 'Love To The Music', 'Fiffty Fifty Love' and 'Somethin Special'.

In 2006 The Temptations left Motown and released their first album away from the label since the late 70's early 80's Atlantic albums. Entitled 'Reflections' the album featured a number of Motown covers which again featured G.C Cameron prominently.

G.C's replacement is apparently 37 year old Bruce Williamson a singer with a strong gospel background.

Wow, G.C. Cameron was awesome on Vocals, I saw The Temptations at Sheffield Arena a Couple of years back.

Another Chapter in The Temptations Story, Bruce Williamson, anyone got anything recorded by him.

GC Cameron is great singer that should have been a lot more sucessfull than he was.

Another funny thing he apparantly hated his Malaco set which for me is one of his strongest albums.

Give me youre love should be still belted out at venues excellant dancer.

I would assume that they will have chosen wisely, hope so anyway.

G.C. probably got tired of being in The Temptations after four years.

I haven't been told why he left but he prefers to do his own thing, musically, and I know he got pretty tired when he was with The Spinners for the second time - after John Edwards took ill.

It's nice to keep The Temptations name alive but it gets to the point where current members don't have any significant connection with the original group. The same applies to the "other" Temptations (featuring David Sea) and all "brand name" groups - the most notable being The Drifters.

Everyone has to make a living but I'd prefer it if great singers such as G.C. Cameron, David Sea and John Edwards had concentrated more on their solo careers.

I think thats the general consensus of opinion Paul.

Some artists are designed to be in a group some just aren't, I know he mentioned a few times in interviews about how he found it difficult having to learn to sing background vocals all over again.

Apparently he asked Otis to let him break from the group eight months ago, Otis allowed that but wanted to wait until he had a replacement.

Now it seems they have that replacement.

I don't think G.C. hated the Malaco LP but he certainly wasn't happy with the way it was promoted (or not, as he would say).

The relationship didn't work out because he and Malaco had very different ideas.

G.C. should have been a major soul star but he didn't fully concentrate on his solo career at the right time.

Motown didn't push his solo stuff and his last real chance was probably when he cut an LP for Honey Records in 1979 / 1980 - but the material was poor, which is why it wasn't issued.

The Malaco LP was much stronger but by 1983 it was really too late for that kind of music to be successful - especially with Malaco who by then were trying to be a "modern blues" company.

This is all very frustrating because G.C. is an excellent singer.

Hi Paul not meaning to sound funny mate but he was in front of me at Tesco Express on Roman road buying two scratch cards some canestan duo, 1/2oz of old holburn a packet of flamn hot wotsits. I tapped him on the head and said "Hi GC Cameron what do think of your'e 1983 Malaco lp "Give me your'e love".He looked down at the floor went cross eyed and muttered " I hate it!".He left in that much of a hurry I managed to get one of his leapord pattern espadrilles .which was nice..

I caught him at Club Bongo International and he mentioned he'd seen you at Tesco Express. Sadly, he had "lost" one of his shoes but he still had the lucky scratch cards in his hand.
