It's a question that has followed me for years, and I've never got a definitive answer.

Who the !#$! was King Horror?

I thought for a long time it was Laurel Aitken, but then I read somewhere it wasn't.

Can someone finally solve th mistery??

Cheers,

D

Sorry, I thought it was Laurel too!

Not Laurel Aitken; he was the the producer.

Born Evril Davey, King Horror began his singing career under the moniker "Young Growler," a name he took in homage to original calypsonian Mighty Growler. Check out one of his cricket-themed calypsos here - https://www.wiplayers.com/cms/index.php?opt...&Itemid=106

He must have changed his name to King Horror when he began singing reggae for Aitken in 1969. According to Roots Knotty Roots, "Cutting Blade" on Grape was originally credited to Young Growler. - https://www.rootsknottyroots.com/dev/single.php?id=197A707R

Hope that helps shed some light on this elusive figure.

It helps. A LOT!

Many thanks, mate. Looks like I'm going to be able to sleep after a few years, unless I get myself think about that 3rd copy of DILY

Cheers...
