Unfortunately I have to tell you that the Horncastle nights are no more.
The reason being a new events co-ordinator has taken over and they decided they did not want to have us there any more BUT they did not think it worth telling us either until I went up to the venue to check all was OK for Saturday night.
Over the years we have had constant battles with the venue management mainly over talcum powder or drinking own booze on the premises but also the constant changing of managers has not helped as we barely got to know one before they got fed up and left.
Now I feel miffed to say the least as I have managed to keep the nights going despite my being in hospital for a major operation last year and having chemotherapy over this winter period. I even came up for a few hours to see Soul Sam less than 3 weeks after having the cancerous kidney removed.
More annoying is the club made a major boo boo by allowing a promoter of rave nights to stage an event in their field and almost lost it's late night licence and only the support of the northern soulies via my petition kept the licence after an appeal.
Quite frankly I do not need the hassle and there is not another venue suitable so this is the end of my days a s a promoter I am happy to let others have the grief and get on with my own life, I will see you out and about somewhere I hope.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and very well we have to admit you have travelled from all corners of the country. THANK YOU.
To those that signed the petition. THANK YOU.
All the DJ's who have given their time and even played for free if we have had a charity night, far too many to mention but you are much appreciated. THANK YOU.
Those who have spread the word via mouth or flyers again THANK YOU.
Coops for the flyers who raised our profile when my John Bull kit ran out of ink. THANK YOU.
To Dave Raistrick who 6 years ago encouraged me to start the night and helped me get it off the ground. THANK YOU.
And to Doug Hall & Linda, well what can I say with a tear in my eye, you have become such good friends and helped me keep the night afloat for so long. As one of the original DJ's and long time co-promoter you know many of the issues and how we have struggled right back to the famous Ian Gee coffee incident . THANK YOU so much.
Nothing else changes, the forum is still active and my web site will be there for many more years to come I hope + I will still be raising money for charity via the record auctions.
