Since I've been on the scene late 70s there's always been for want of a better term a fair number of casuals / lads wearing the gear, although not so noticeable until around 82. But that doesn't always equate to being a hoolie :)

just my opinion but as a fairly new guy to this forum myself - if a longer term member of the forum gave me this advice i would be inclined to take it :)
