  8. Hi everyone and welcome to the fourth Banbury Soul Club event of 2019. Saturday 6th July 2019 8pm – 12 Midnight. Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Banbury Soul Club's next promotion on Saturday 6th July is a special charity event and will be a departure from our Northern Soul policy. This promotion is to celebrate the musical heritage of Motown and all the classic soul records of our youth. This will be a charity night in aid of Katherine House Hospice, Banbury. As many of you will know, Dave Bailey, one of the Banbury Soul Club founders spent the last few weeks of his life there. So it is our intention to raise money for this organisation. All proceeds from the evening, minus the hall hire charge, will be donated to this worthy charity. https://www.khh.org.uk/how-to-access-services This event will be a 100% Motown and classic soul night through to 12 midnight. Expect to hear the masterpiece tunes we all grew up with but also including some forgotten tunes as well - the “when did I last hear this” factor. What we can guarantee is all tunes played will be for your enjoyment and have that danceability factor that we have all enjoyed over the years. The resident Banbury DJ's Charlie, Steve, and Tom will keep the floor bouncing until the end of the night. Please feel free to ask for requests of your favourite soul sounds. And we will certainly try to oblige and play them. But with such a musical catalogue I suspect we will run out of time rather than manage to play everything we would like too. So please come along and support this worthy cause and enjoy the night listening and dancing to the memories created by soul music. For those that haven’t been before this really is a superb venue. The Banbury United Clubhouse has recently been refurbished, along with the free car park immediately outside the clubhouse. With a raised stage, main wooden dancefloor with seating and tables on both sides. Anyway hope to see you all on Saturday 6th July 2019 8pm – 12 Midnight. Admission is just £5. For all SatNav users the full address as below. Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Contacts: Charlie 07751 124108 Steve 07943 793417 Tom 07803 310000

  11. BANBURY SOUL CLUB THIRD EVENT OF 2019 Saturday 11Th May 2019 - 8pm to 1am Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Sincere thanks to all who attended our last event in our new venue in March. It was another successful evening and well attended. We cannot do it without your continuing support and we all appreciate your efforts in attending. Some people were still having difficulties finding The Banbury United Clubhouse location. Unfortunately SatNavs will only get you part of the way. The only access to the club is by way of the Station Approach road. After turning into Station Approach the main railway station, train drop off point and taxi rank is immediately on the left. You need to take the narrow roadway on the extreme right to find the Clubhouse and follow this road all the way to the ground. The clubhouse is approx. 0.5 miles down this road. Turn right into the Clubhouse car park which is well lit. If you do get lost the taxi drivers are usually very helpful and will point you in the right direction. We will also put up more prominent signage showing the direction you need to go. For those who have not been to the venue before the Banbury United Clubhouse has recently been refurbished, along with the free car park immediately outside the clubhouse. With a raised stage, main wooden dancefloor with seating and tables on both sides. The music played will be one hundred per cent across the board. As always the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment. Our guest DJ for this evening is Kev Berry. Kev is a long term collector and has the vinyl to keep the dancefloor busy and the attendees entertained. Kev is a resident DJ at Spinners Cotton Club in Northampton and also resident at Stalag 45 Towcester Soul Club. He has also guested at other events including MK Soul Club. His enthusiasm will make him a very welcome addition to the May DJ roster. Charlie, Steve, Tom and Dave the resident DJ’s will be playing their own selections of danceable soul music to guarantee a brilliant night. Expect to hear sounds from the last 50 years covering all genres, tempos and styles. Also this is a talc friendly event. So if you feel the need to use some talc on the floor then that’s not a problem. But please use common sense when “dusting” the floor. After the positive feedback from the first “No Boundaries” session we will continue to utilize the second smaller room. Nick “Topsey” Turvey will be curating this alternative room. This will NOT be a Northern room. The “NO BOUNDARIES” room will do exactly what it says on the tin. It will feature modern, crossover, low rider, soulful house and jazz funk. Basically if it is soulful it will be played. The exception is there will be NO Northern or Motown. Nick has complete freedom to play exactly what he wants and invite any guest DJ’s who will enhance that room. So if you prefer those genres of soul this is the room for you. I’ll update this article when Nick confirms who the May guest DJ’s are. In summary this will genuinely be a “something for everyone” evening. So make sure you come along and enjoy a superb soulful night’s entertainment for only £5. Two rooms of soul, 10 hours of music for only £5 has to be a bargain. Anyway we all hope to see you all on Saturday 11th May January 2019 - 8pm to 1am Admission is just £5. For all SatNav users the full address as below. Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Door Tax only £5. 12. Saturday 2nd March 2019 - 8pm to 1am Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Sincere thanks to all who attended our first event in our new venue in January. It was a very successful evening and very well attended. We cannot do it without your continuing support and we all appreciate your efforts in attending. Thanks to all for their positive comments. Just two issues that we will address for future events. People were having difficulties finding The Banbury United Clubhouse location. The second issue was the floor was “sticky” in some places. We will ensure before the event the the dance area is suitably cleaned. Also this is a talc friendly event. So if you feel the need to use some talc on the floor then that’s not a problem. But please use common sense when “dusting” the floor. For those who did not attend our January event The Banbury United Clubhouse has recently been refurbished, along with the free car park immediately outside the clubhouse. The Clubhouse has a raised stage, main wooden dancefloor with seating and tables on both sides. The music played will be one hundred per cent across the board. As always the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment. To start the proceedings in the main room for our second event will be my good self. I’ll play an hour of classic northern with some tunes you rarely hear out these days. So a nostalgia hour from me to begin the evening. Charlie, Steve, Tom and Dave the resident DJ’s will be playing their own selections of danceable soul music to guarantee a brilliant night. Expect to hear sounds from the last 50 years covering all genres, tempos and styles. After requests on the January night we have decided to open up the second room. This will NOT be a Northern room. The “NO BOUNDARIES” room will do exactly what it says on the tin. It will feature modern, crossover, low rider, soulful house and jazz funk. Basically if it is soulful it will be played. The exception is there will be NO Northern or Motown. Nick “Topsey” Turvey will be curating this alternative room. He has complete freedom to play exactly what he wants and invite any guest DJ’s who will enhance that room. And Nick’s first guest is local boy Eddie Hubbard. I’m sure Eddie needs no introduction to soul fans. And as a resident of ‘Ease Your Mind’, which has a very similar music policy to ‘No Boundaries’, Eddie will know exactly what is expected in this room. So if you prefer those genres of soul this is the room for you. In summary this will genuinely be a “something for everyone” evening. So make sure you come along and enjoy a superb soulful night’s entertainment for only £5. Two rooms of soul, 10 hours of music for only £5 has to be a bargain. 13. BANBURY SOUL CLUB FIRST EVENT OF 2019 & NEW VENUE Saturday 5th January 2019 - 8pm to 1am Banbury United Football Club Station Approach Banbury Oxfordshire OX16 5AB Our 15th Anniversary in November 2018 was the last event at the Trades & Labour Club. For various reasons the T&L Club were imposing too many restrictions on the Soul Club. As a team we decided we could not accommodate all their requests so unfortunately we have had to change venue again. And once again luck was smiling on us. The Banbury United Clubhouse has recently been refurbished, along with the free car park immediately outside the clubhouse. With a raised stage, main wooden dancefloor with seating and tables on both sides plus a separate second room for people to sit and chill out but still hear the sounds. Photo’s to follow. So our new home is Banbury United. There will be another four Banbury Soul Club events in 2019. The music played will be one hundred per cent across the board. As always the emphasis is on quality and enjoyment. To start the proceedings in our new venue will be our two special guests from Witney Soul Club, Dan and John. These two always play an exciting set and will complement the residents with their own selections. Charlie, Steve, Tom and Dave the resident DJ’s will be playing their own selections of danceable soul music to guarantee a brilliant night. Expect to hear sounds from the last 50 years covering all genres, tempos and styles. In summary this will genuinely be a “something for everyone” evening. So make sure you come along and enjoy a superb soulful night’s entertainment for only £5. Anyway we all hope to see you all on Saturday 5th January 2019 - 8pm to 1am .Admission is just £5.
