April 11, 200916 yr Feast your eyes. Which now means I have a MINT 78rpm copy for sale. Best offer secures. Dennis, there has been a 45 copy relisted on ebay a few times over last month or so, as it only reached $160 or thereabouts and seller had high reserve. I think seller (Pete Wilgus) was at Austin show so don't know if you got his copy whilst you were there (he also listed it as a 'buy it now' for $625 or thereabouts, but it failed to sell)
April 12, 200916 yr Author Dennis, there has been a 45 copy relisted on ebay a few times over last month or so, as it only reached $160 or thereabouts and seller had high reserve. I think seller (Pete Wilgus) was at Austin show so don't know if you got his copy whilst you were there (he also listed it as a 'buy it now' for $625 or thereabouts, but it failed to sell) Yes, got it off Pete in the last 30 minutes of the show, whilst he was packing up. He had $500 on it, so not sure what the $625 'Buy It Now' price was all about. Perhaps he had a 'Make Me An Offer' on it too and was expecting to be bargained down? Anyhow, I got it for W...A...Y less than his marked price. Guess he hadn't done so well at the show and needed the money. Other dealers all around the show were doing the same as I also picked up a nice Willie Kendrick on RCA for a VERY good price. :o) Whatever the reason, I was chuffed as hell. It's one rare record, a good R&B dancer, it's in beautiful condition, far better than I expected to find it, and, I collect the label. There's one or two more I need but to be honest, I've now got all the best ones as far as I'm concerned, including the Gloria Irving, also from 1957, a superb record and perfect for the R&B scene too, IMO.

Suppose if you take in account ebay final sales fees and paypal fees then I suppose pricing it up as $500 cash at a show is as attractive a deal as $625 buy it now on ebay (which as I said, never reached bids higher than $160)....knowing Pete at the end of the show, you probably got it for around $250-$300....I had some beauties off him for $4 each at A'town I know of a Betty Everett for sale in U.K for £800 so even $500 would have been a bargain mate.

April 12, 200916 yr i pulled out of the bidding a few years back when one hit $800 on ebay ...how much you want for the 78 Den ?
April 12, 200916 yr Author i pulled out of the bidding a few years back when one hit $800 on ebay ...how much you want for the 78 Den ? Hi Davie, Like I said, I'm taking offers by PM. But remember, it's absolutely MINT. I've never seen or had a 78rpm record in such good condition in my life. Well, except perhaps for the UK Parlophone two 1-sided white Demos of Otis Williams and the Charms doing "Walkin After Midnight" and "I'm Waiting Just For You". I wonder if Tiny Topsy is in the Charms for this recording? I'll have to check on that. :o) Denbo.
April 13, 200916 yr Sounds very clean that Thorsten, is it from vinyl or the Cobra CD? taken from a mint cobra 5008 ...
April 13, 200916 yr Author taken from a mint cobra 5008 ... WOW, NICE ONE!!! Better condition than mine. This is a toughie and should be getting played on the R&B scene everywhere. Are you playing it to your audience in Hamburg?

Are you playing it to your audience in Hamburg? unfortunately there is not much of a R&B scene over here, but last time i played this out it went down very well with the students and drunks.. April 13, 200916 yr Hi Davie, Like I said, I'm taking offers by PM. Denbo. i'm sure it'll go to a nice home and hopefully someone who'll play it out
April 14, 200916 yr Author i'm sure it'll go to a nice home and hopefully someone who'll play it out Well . . . that could be you if you offer me the best price.
April 14, 200916 yr Well . . . that could be you if you offer me the best price. It won't be , I'm not a fan of the offers system and I think with the delicate nature of 78's it'll be worth more to someone to put in a frame than for me to play
April 14, 200916 yr Author It won't be , I'm not a fan of the offers system and I think with the delicate nature of 78's it'll be worth more to someone to put in a frame than for me to play FRAME? God I hope not . . . it's MINT and should be played NOT displayed. Having said that, if I don't get my money back on it, I could play my 45 and display the 78. Terrible waste though.

Nice blog by the way. Love them photos. I used to take some black and whites with coloured lens filters when out and about in the sticks whilst living up in Drumlithie way back in 1981 to 1985. Drumlithie is about 7 miles south of Stonehaven, which itself is about 25 miles south of Aberdeen, so I was living out in the sticks already. Only had to walk around the corner from my croft and it was lovely coutryside with a couple of crackin' 9 hole golf courses. Aahh, those were the days, when life was simpler. Hadn't returned to record collecting at that time which meant I had plenty of time for golf and fishing. Edited April 14, 200916 yr by denbo
