Just a reminder that we do have an 'Event Playlists Forum' here on Soul Source In past days they have always seemed to be of interest and if you look at current views it does seem that members/readers still do have the same interest despite a lack of adds. And so am putting up a shout/invite for new playlists adds for this the Playlist forum Not talking massive play by play lists with detailed label spelling/numbers affairs Am sure simple quick top 3s/5s/7s plays would be welcomed by many on here, as would plays that went down well or even the plays that died and so on All promoters, djs, punters out there am sure be interested reading other members and vice versa All about the promotion right? Ted Massey aka @Ted Massey has been in touch with us regarding the recent robbery of records from his house. He has managed to put together some label scans and pictures of some of the stolen records and asked if they could be hosted on Soul Source. so people can view the scans as a reference. Latest 45 from Big Man Records is now out on the streets, The Falcons - Love Look In Her Eyes / Love You Like You Never Been Loved - BMR 1015 'The vocal talents of Johnny Alvin, Alton Hollowell, James Gibson, Carlis "Sonny" Monroe hit the spot creating such a good, good feeling with a handful of 45's cut over fifty years ago. Their legacy continues with this the latest big man release.' Sleeve Notes The Falcons were an American rhythm and blues vocal group, formed in 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. Members over the years included Alton Hollowell, Bonny Rice, Eddie Floyd, James Gibson, Johnny Alvin, Lance Finney, Robert Ward, Sonny Munro, T.P. Coleman, Willie Schofield and Wilson Pickett. Following the release of Fine, Fine Girl/Oh Baby in 1963 they disbanded when Willie Schofield was drafted and Eddie Floyd and Wilson Pickett weren't available. Robert West, manager of The Falcons refused to let his group die. He took a group known as The Fabulous Playboys (who recorded on Daco, Apollo Records, Contour and were The Ramblers on Federal Records and made them The Falcons. Towards the end of the 60s into the 70s original members began to return under The Falcons name. The second incarnation of The Falcons continued performing as The Firestones. Big Wheel records from New York City was founded by Frank Kocian and released singles from many Detroit soul artists which are coveted on the Northern Soul Scene. Promotion for the label was handled by Wally Roker and personal management at the label was handled by Komac Enterprises.
