  6. Word passed on from Goldsoul of their current series of podcasts, which offer more of a radio style (some taking in interviews) than the more usual trad podcast way Here's the words and link An ongoing series of Podcasts titled 'The History of Northern Soul' and 'Behind The Hits' are available to listen to on Mixcloud. 'History' covers the birth of the scene, key venues, most popular songs, ultimate rarities, while 'Hits' traces classic soul songs and interviews the artists behind them. Just some of the guests in the programmes include Millie Jackson, Lenny Williams, Melba Moore, Patti Austin, Marlena Shaw, Soul Brothers Six and more. Regular themes and new episodes can be found at http://www.mixcloud.com/goldsoul

  8. Ian Snowball has been in touch with a word about an upcoming book, titled Black Music White Britain written by Pete McKenna and Ian Snowball Planned for a Dec 2013 launch, this books approach seems to be along the lines of a journey through the heritage of black music in Britain Here's the blurb from the website... BLACK MUSIC WHITE BRITAIN is exactly what it says on the album sleeve. A journey through the constantly changing heritage of black music in Britain that began on the twenty second of June nineteen forty eight when a former German naval vessel arrived in Tilbury Docks London with a rather special cargo. Black Music in White Britain aims to both educate but more importantly celebrate some of the most significant, memorable and timeless artists, songs, pioneering record labels and clubs that have left an indelible mark on Britain’s music and youth culture. For this book we have mainly concentrated on the years stemming from the 1950’s leading up to the end of the 1970’s.
