Rob I think have got where you are coming from, you are proposing a non-virtual real world sort of wigan archive book affair yep ? Sounds like a project that would be appreciated by many, hopefully this thread has stirred some interest and helps get things going. There are members involved in publishing, have you spoke to any of them ? Maybe if they are reading this they can drop ya a pm. Sounds like a worthwhile thing, best of luck getting it going cheers mike

Rob If got it right you are calling for a archive to be put together of video, photos and such from 70s, you mentioned a possible dvd and a book, and trying to get someone involved Prefer to talk about in feedback, but if I read what you are saying right , there are many ways the site and its features can assist in such a project There is the gallery which can quite easily be used for images. Can set up a members category where all can upload in a few minutes Video clips are slightly different as refosoul can be used to store/display video clips but it does encode them to a site format However it could be a reference rather than an archive Obviously with such a project there can be some concerns, whos the driving force, aim of it all, copyright issues ( not sure how a dvd or book would work) but yep, sure any of the site features can be used If let us know what after more than happy to assist , be it get things going with image categories or whatever cheers mike

maybe my dodgy memory or the camera angle of that clip trick be ask central where clip come from and any more of it few members involved in that type of work on here if there is more and central have any wits about them they could do a "now and then" sort of human interest mini-doc thing fronted by alan partridge of course

ahh just seen that clip on the youtube link just posted that same bit you were on about Pete? 3-5 secs, think the guys mirrored it to use same clip again later looks different than what i remeber

Jethro
ahh, cheers Pete there is itn video libary database some where online that may help/confirm when see threads like this do wonder if anyone ever followed up that auction in the link, the episode was listed, know the price was high, but given the collecting side of things and price of vinyl wonder what value coudl put on it, or say if a promoter got hold sure could do something with it to cover costs local tv stations may have something, there was that saturday banana saturday morning tv thing planned which got cancelled cause of unions , maybe others did similar ?

Rob Site team dont always catch every post so best bet for suggestions like above is to post up in feedback, that way team is aware and can look at things, plus replies/dicsussion on such doesnt then clog the threads up. Think know what you mean but if you post in feedback can answer better there Just a tip. Posting in capitals does make posts hard to read, it work better if switch over to lower case cheers mike

Comment: Little Car(o)l & the Detroit Hitmen
What a tune - just listened & heard it for the first time. I notice a set of brackets around the o & wonder if that's what's written on the acetate and I mention it because it sounds like a very young Carl Carlton who is a native of Detroit - could it be? View the full item

Allnighter News - No Sleep Till...
A fast and sharp Allnighter news catch up, weekend occurances, next month, 100 Club regs... Allnighter News - No Sleep Till... Three allnighters this weekend catch the eye, New Century gets their first one of 2010 under way one at Radcliffe Manchester. The boxing day one was a 2 day recoverer so expect more of the same. Vibrant Forum Thread link Friday see's the Gloucester Allnighter taking place in the South West Lively Forum Thread below Saturday also see's an Allnighter in Leicester run by the Leicester Soul Assassins Jumping Forum Thread link Up Manchester way Friday doing the Soul Or Nothing thing so chance may end up at NCSC though busy Sunday plans may scratch that. Coming Up - February sees a few nighters celebrating their anniversary Lifeline, Bidds, and Rugby for sure, will try and grab a few words from the organisers on the year gone Other Nighter news 100 Club just annouced a new regular to their line up.. 6TS PRESS RELEASE Following much deliberation and soul searching - literally, we are chuffed to announce that we have acquired the DJing services, skills and peculiarities of Joel Maslin on a regular basis. He joins the team of Butch, Mick Smith, Keith Money and myself as one of the regulars and will DJ when Keith can’t make it down from the Trossachs, or the Hebrides , or wherever his rig is parked. So there’ll be four regulars plus one, or occasionally two, guest DJs every nighter. We hope this goes some way to making up for the Palace going down the Pawnbrokers this week for Joel. He's youngish, enthusiastic and played a blinder on his last guest spot and will add his own dimension to the 100 Club sound. Further sensational, if not sensual, news is that we have signed up the venerated Alan “Kitch” Kitchener for the February 13th 100 Club nighter. That will be Joel’s debut as a staff member, Mick’s sorting out his union card. If I can swing it with the printer we’ll get Butch and Kitch’s first letters of their names mixed up; accidentally like. So get your fine selves down those Oxford Street stairs for another night of Northern Soul mayhem.
