The Sitting in the Park site is all about a weekly Chicago Radio show featuring regular soul interviews Though already mentioned in the forum and the site is in the soul links, as such a worthwhile reference thought its worth a highlight here in the news/article section of soul source The Sitting in the Park site is all about a weekly Chicago Radio show "Sitting in the Park" that broadcasts every Sunday night from 7:30-9:00PM on WHPK 88.5FM Chicago Featuring Chicago soul and group soul, mainly from the 60s through the early 70s it also regularly features interviews with many of the people responsible for that great music. 11. Mentioned a few times on here over the last 18 months, now out on release in the USA and does seem to have been recieved well Here's a clip from one review can read full version on the Charleston City Paper Website (link below) Dreamgirls Dreamworks SKG Directed by Bill Condon With Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Jamie Foxx, and Eddie Murphy Rated PG-13 DECEMBER 20, 2006 FILM REVIEW | Mo Betta Motown Dreamgirls hits most of the right notes for drama told through song BY SCOTT RENSHAW .. The tale opens in the 1960s, at a Detroit talent competition. A vocal trio calling themselves the Dreamettes — Deena (Beyoncé Knowles), Effie (Jennifer Hudson), and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) — fails to win the evening, but they capture the attention of Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx), a car salesman with visions of becoming an entertainment manager. Taylor successfully wrangles a gig for the Dreamettes as touring backup singers for popular soul performer James "Thunder" Early (Eddie Murphy), but soon the women promise to be even bigger than the headliner. And when fame enters the equation, relationships shift and become complicated. .... full review can be read here http://www.charlestoncitypaper.com/gyrobas...oid=oid%3A21202

  13. Stumbled across this entry on the Wall of Sound blog. A fairly serious piece, and may be a bit heavy for a cold thursday however the way it looks at "Out On The Floor" is interesting, a clip below This point will become clearer, perhaps, if we turn to Dobie Gray's recording of 'Out on the Floor'. Lyrically and musically, the song is an interesting mid-point between the integrationist agenda in black politics and the civil rights movement; between Ward's cultural poles of Motown and James Brown (1998, p. 123-169). https://wallofsound.wordpress.com/2006/12/1...-us-soul-music/

  23. Often visited this blog as always found it entertaining and offering a greay different slant on things. Unfortunatly londonlee has just posted that it is now shut down, thought worthy of a mention as sure many like me will miss it, if course can read the full story on the blog https://www.soul-source.co.uk/rare_...ink.php?lid=195 No prizes for anticapating the below... as now officially back and reopen have to quickly mention the soul source members blogs have returned and so if fancy getting your own going if a member just hit this link and in 30 seconds can have your own personal blog up and running no geek stuff/skills needed Posting is just as easy as posting in this forum, its uses same editor, system etc, so is really a no brainer as said 30 seconds is all it takes just hit this link ( if logged in)...... ***To start your own click here and the 30 secs include your first post... straight up
