  2. SKIP STUART FROM PETERBORO ILL IN HOSPITAL On Saturday 29th October Skip Stuart from Peterborough suffered a heart attack and is still in PDH Peterborough. As one of the original Godfathers of Pboro Soul he's a tip top guy, a regular around the scene Circa 1968ish he's been there a worn the t-shirt so many times, but continues to be as humble as ever with an attitude toward the rare soul scene in the Uk that if others followed the scene would be better for it. Im off to see him tomorrow so any Boro Boys out there who would like to leave a message I will read them out to him, they will I'm sure make a difference.
  3. Second Edition of RnB Indies Available now E to L Shipping now The second mighty slab of the four volume set is now available. Volume Two has 665 pages covering almost another 3000 labels from E to L.. How the second stacks up to the first. The second edition has evolved into a behemoth. Pretty much everything has doubled in size except for the font used for the text, which is actually a little smaller to pack in even more data on each page. The number of labels covered has jumped from 4500 to a whopping 11,300 and almost all previous listings have been added to or revised in some way. The fourth volume concludes with a cross referenced artist-to-label index that is extremely useful to create new artist discographies.... Welcome to the second edition The award winning label based discography has doubled in every way. A massive infusion of soul anf funk era labels as well as major overhaul and expansion of the original first edition turning up many welcome surprises and more complete information in the Blues and Gospel fields has resulted in an enormous new four volume set. Approximately 6,800 labels have been added to bringing the total number of imprints to a whopping 11,300 firms now listed. The listings, which include matrix numbers, dating guides, related labels, ownership and location details, are more complete than ever. order from http://www.therandbindies.com/index.html

Still passionate about the Heart of Soul, her favourite person was Jethro from Wolverhampton. Although rather frail I took her to the Casino Exhibition, this time last year. The funeral is Thursday Nov 3rd at St.James, Poolstock, Wigan 2.30. Just thought everyone should know.....she had so many friends..a lovely lady....Russ Submitted by Russ Winstanley

  22. lol at the crayon! think its a sub-concious cheapskate thing cause if do manage to write info down clearly and then actually remember where you put the note, then it can be very very ..expensive. have tried many methods of memory some failed ones one mucker remembers label one remembers artist one remembers title failed as on monday it was like a verbal version of a rubic cube tried to use a message service - phone it up and it records what you say failed as after listening to recording meself in cold light of a monday resulted in a 3 weeks at the monestry
  23. dont think happens that much nowadays but some out there must have a few "fishing" style stories of landing that catch by "fouling" (not into fishing like, but think "fouling" means when you catch a fish , not by it taking the bait but by the hook hooking it on way up) once saw a ringleaders 45 at 9.99 but no title listed or label, easy decision and yes it was cast up your catches
  24. heard did great set at a packed Broughton last weekend always treats ears at monkey
